We are going to fix your light on Thursday

This was the statement that caught my attention that Monday evening when some students flooded my class but I was uninterested in what they had to say, I initially thought they were not together as it is a school and different students come in at any time and coming in together is something that happen often, but there was a guy among them who comes to my class to advertise and sell past questions so I thought he came to do stuff like that again.

Just that this time their agenda was different, they were contesting for the role of president in the school and they needed our votes to win and it was that same guy who keeps saying we should not worry that he is going to fix our light and as expected the student said if he fix the light, they are going to vote for him and his group.

Up till now, our class light bulb has not been fixed, and the guy did not say anything about it anymore, I don't know if voting is over but I would love to know the winner, and hopefully, it is not the same guy that promised to fix our bulb two weeks ago.

Politics has turned many people into liars, they would promise heaven and earth just to get to the position they desire but once they achieve their aim, all the promises become null and they could care less about those who voted them into that position, we blamed our old leaders for not caring about the citizens and demanded a youth to lead but the explanation I gave above was done by a youth.

We blame our leaders for embezzling the country's money but I think the youth will do the same if they get a chance to be in the position, In my class, we have a course rep for all courses we offer, and the lecturer hand over their textbook to the course reps to sell for them, do you know that all the course rep added 100 Naira to the amount the textbook is sold and they call it service charges, Imagine collecting 16 000 Naira from 160 students in group A as service charge, Like is it possible to pay 16k as service charge? this made many students fight for the role of course rep so they can also make some money and this is how corruption starts, all this is being done by our youth, if they have the chance to get more money, they will definitely embezzle it not caring about hurting others.

If I were a course rep, I am sure I wouldn't charge that 100 Naira.

When it comes to Politics, I am not interested because I am the kind of person who does not like to be in the limelight and you can't avoid this in politics, secondly, I hate to be a puppet so I will end up having an issue with those in power that made me get to the position when they try to control me.

Politics happen in many places now, not just in the government, we have politics in schools, churches, and even in the community and I made sure to avoid it all, In church, I choose just to be a member and not partake in their youth or workers stuff as that would only create familiarity, which is the same thing I do in school too, I avoid all those positions because I prefer being a shadow that no one knows and am not ready to get into any power struggle.

I have not engaged in politics, and I am not interested in pursuing it as a career based on the explanations given above but If I happened to find myself there, the first thing I would love to change is the elders governing the country that are making it worse, I am going to fire Tinubu because he has only done more harm than good to this country and I would love the country currency to gain its value again.

Life is so hard for the poor because of the inflation and I would love to change that and put a smile on my citizens face.
