Bank transfer and card usage is the way to survive Nigeria cashless economy

avatar

Happy sunday famz!!

I learnt a new lesson today due to the current situation of Nigeria....

source

There has been shortage of cash since they re designed our currency as they refused to print enough of it or should i say they refused to release the new note to the public..

It has been a problem as many people are cashless now and do not have money to buy things they need... I hear people complaining about being stranded because the drivers refuse to collect the old Note from them...

It is now a situation whereby you have money but still difficult to spend it, now imagine the problem those who don't have the money will face because the charges for withdrawal now is outrageous....

image.png

As for me, i have been surviving on restaurant and eatery food with my Card, and also managing the little cash i am able to withdraw but on february 14 i decided to go spend some time with my sister and her family, i didn't really need to go out to buy food by myself again as they cook at home...

I have been cashless for the past two days but i didn't feel it until today lol...

It was not a serious case though, just that the bathing soap finish and i didn't have any money on me to buy another, my sister is cashless too, her two boys shower without soap but i don't want to do that so i was waiting for cash to appear from no where 😂

source

Oh well after waiting till godot, i realized help won't come from above so i had to think of a way to get the soap.... The best solution was to do transfer to get it... I had to do transfer of 200 naira to the seller to buy the soap and i was charge 50 naira by the bank too...

Anyway i got my soap and had my bath... All thanks to transfer.. I think the solution to the lack of cash is to start using bank transfer and card to purchase what we need....

To avoid spending much on charges, you can visit mall to buy your groceries for the week and also visit any local provision store accepting transfer too to buy all you need for the week...

Hopefully they will release more of the new note and everything will be back to normal soon..

I think transfer works too in the current situation, people are cashless everywhere now, and it is not funny anymore, imagine locking yourself in everyday, just because cash can not be accessible, lols..

honestly it is getting annoying and i can feel the pains of those who had to go to work, pay for transport and other stuffs, the government is just making life harder for the citizens

I think Peoples shouldn't go to work anymore at this time but to stay at home until everything are settled, because in my local government, most of the fillings station are not operating anymore, to buy a fuel now is very hard and the new notes also is even harder, palava everywhere 😂

if people don't work, they wont't receive salary or earn money and that is far worse than this cashless economy

This is funny, the person that received the transfer of N200 was kind. Anything below N1k here, they don't accept transfers. Some will even tell you to add the charges for collection on the transfer.

I have been using money to purchase cash since this menace started.

people doing people, why do we have to pay for charges for them to collect it when bank already debited us for the transaction, i blame the government for all this though, hopefully all get better soon

I swear, some Nigerians are even worst than the Government. Okay, let's take a look at the POS guys, on Friday, I withdrew 5k with N1200. Can you imagine that?

They are just a bunch of opportunists, I also blame the Government.

dang, 1200 is much, the highest i have used to withdraw 5k is 500 naira.. the citizens also contribute to the hardship not just the government

I wanted to travel and I have no choice. The lady was the only one with a new naira note in that area. So she makes use of the opportunity to extort individuals.

I'm using transfer too, but you know transport guys don't collect transfers, and I move around. That's why they got me.

I had a terrible experience today, I was going to Berger and I couldn't get any cash. Most of the POS shops were locked because they couldn't get money and the ones who opened just came to feed their eyes.

None of the bike or bus would take transfer so the transfer thing will only solve the problem to an extent. It is really annoying.

I must say that seller is very kind 😂, some outright reject transfers. My friend visited an eatery with friends and they were charged 300naira extra simply because they paid using bank transfer. Apart from the government making things difficult for us, we can help ourselves, but in this Nigeria, the reverse is the case.
Thank God you were able to get your soap 😂

The woman seems not bothered about the economy crisis, i could remember the first time i went to buy tea from her, she didn't have 40 naira change and she said i can go, when i have change i should bring, that was surprising like she is just simple and takes life simple too.. we need more people like her

Wow, that's a rare one. She should be given a special award 😂. It's simply us looking after one another, people need to learn that.

Hehe.. funny how you say that transfer. The only banks that go through easily are those “online based bank”.

We had to trek home on Thursday, everyone refused to collect the money while coming home, even the hausa’s. We wanted to buy food stuff on Friday, we couldn’t transfer due to network issue, I had to use my opay which the money there was not enough to cover the bill. I added the cash I manage to see to complete the bill, it was really painful because cash was scarce

I think if the network issue is been resolved, then cashless would be nice

which state do you base? i heard they still collect the old note in the northern area...

you are right though, banks network also misbehave atimes so necessary to have like 4 different banks including the online banks so no way the devil can win over you xd

You're lucky the seller did not ask for withdrawal charge. It's gradually becoming a thing with some people.

Some persons no longer accept transfers as there's been too many cases of fake alerts. And it's worse if they accept transfer but network toys with you. I hold onto every cash I have very tightly right now.

yea i am lucky as the woman seems not to be worried at al.....

the network is another issue, my bank app has failed me many times but we have no choice, we will just keep trying it..

We are our own problem in this country!

LoL 😂 you have food at home without no cash on you then soap now finish
It happened to me last week and I couldn't think of a way to get the soap than doing transfer when I get to where I want to buy the soap

Yesterday I bought one bag of pure water #250 with transfer 🤣it was funny to me what our government have turned the country into

The woman selling the pure water didn't want to collect transfer at first then I turned back to go somewhere else then she called me back and said she needed cash to buy market that's why she didn't want to be taking transfer

Then I told her I can't use #200 to collect #250 at the POS then she laughed and asked me to send the money
The country keeps getting funny every day
