It's Playoff Time!

In case you missed it, that trash ass team from down in Ann Arbor won the National College Football Championship. I guess it isn't that hard when you cheat right? Actually, I didn't even watch the game. I placed a bet on Washington to win and that was about it. The game didn't start until after 7:30 PM, it was a long day for me yesterday and honestly, I just didn't care.

I woke up this morning and opened The Score app to see how everything played out. Noticing the U of M victory I spent as little time as possible scrolling through my Facebook feed because I knew it would just be a dumpster fire of trash hicks saying stupid stuff like "hail" and "go blue".

Not that my friends and family on Facebook are trash hicks, but honestly, some of them are just classless hicks and none of them will probably ever read this anyway.

I should really be nicer. For some of them this is the single greatest thing that will happen in any of their lives, so congrats to them for that. Your team won.

As for me, it makes no difference. Heck, even if my team had won, it would make no difference. It doesn't pay my mortgage for me, it doesn't put a new roof on my house. Twenty years from now I will have long forgotten about that time when Michigan won the National Championship. Some people won't though and that's all they will point to for the rest of their lives.

Lions Win

The Lions on the other hand are a different story. I like the Lions, so gloating about their victory this past weekend is totally okay. There's actually been a lot of controversy in the State of Michigan over some of the decision the Lions made this past weekend.

With a game that quite honestly meant very little, head coach Campbell decided to play all the starters. Many teams who had already clinched their trip to the playoffs were running backup players pretty much from the beginning of the game.

Not the Lions though, and sure enough one of our star tight ends got hurt. Laporta suffered a knee injury and there is little chance he will play the first playoff game against LA.

I'm not as upset about it as some people. We have been building a good team with a lot of different tools. Laporta is just one of those tools. Let him rest for a bit.

I'm actually pretty happy things played out the way they did. If things had went the other way and we had to face Green Bay again, I don't think that is a game that anyone would have cared about. We already played them twice this season. It gets old after a while.

Along with the playoff picture being set, the blood started flowing on Monday as head coaches were let go left and right from those under performing teams. After going through our fair share of coaches in Detroit, I know how annoying that can be.

Here's what we have going into Wildcard Weekend:

Buffalo faces Pittsburgh, Kansas City against Miami, and Houston against Cleveland. Anyone else shocked that Houston made it in? They were a virtual laughing stock a year or two ago. Then again so were the Lions...

Baltimore gets a bye on the AFC side of things.

Meanwhile, in the NFC:

Dallas takes on Green Bay, Detroit faces The Rams, and Tampa Bay is up against Philly. San Francisco earned the bye in the NFC.

That Lions Rams game is going to be interesting. These are the two teams that flip flopped quarterbacks a couple of years ago. The Rams instantly won a Superbowl and the Lions have shown steady improvement. Two quarterbacks facing their former teams. You can't make this stuff up!

Well, if you believe the NFL is pulling the strings behind the scenes then maybe you can make this stuff up. I honestly wouldn't put it past them.
