Hive Basic Income
Are you known with the concept of "Basic Income"?
Wikipedia describes it as follows:
Universal basic income (UBI) is a sociopolitical financial transfer policy proposal in which all citizens of a given population regularly receive a legally stipulated and equally set financial grant paid by the government without a means test.
In short: it's a system where everyone just gets money to live from, covering basic needs.
Is it a good system, or a good thing to do? Some say it is, some say it's not. I believe it can be, if implemented correctly. It can push down and beat poverty, which is, without any doubt a great thing, as no child should live in poverty.
That is also one of the main reasons why I believe in blockchain technology, and the cryptocurrency next to it. It gives power back to the people, and has the potential to end, or at least reduce poverty in the world.
Many blockchains have many possibilities to do this, and to work for the people, all over the world, not just the rich people in the rich countries. But Hive works especially well for this in my opinion, as it offers a fairly low entry level, all you need is a smartphone (I know, even with that, low entry level is still very debatable), and internet, and you can start earning money.
What if...
We combined both systems? And create something like a Basic Income, on the blockchain, on Hive? Wouldn't that be great?

I’ve been using HBI for years, back when it was just SBI. Great way to reward people for contests and random drawings… stuff like that.
Indeed, I was already using it on Steem still as well, and loved it back then. Still do now!

My experience with SBI/HBI last for years, and what is the most interesting part is that you can not trade it, you can not buy it for yourself, but you earn it by sponsoring others with a SBI/HBI. This helps building connections and friends, and this is why I think I should qualify to get one from you 😊.

Great post and your reasons for being here seem exactly the same reasons that brought me to Hive.
HBI is a lovely way to help people grow their accounts and your own by mutually providing a UBI one small step at a time.

SBI was always a great reward for contests and challenges... I have somewhere north of 100 shares or so.
I think they kept the "SBI" name by re-naming it "Stake Based Income." Regardless, it's a great idea because it is not "vote buying," but a long term commiment to creating content.

Yes, I remember this - do you remember when it got a little weird here on Hive for a while when a bot was downvoting any post that received SBI rewards?! Left me dumbfounded!

Yeah it was someone who was clearly salty about SBI but it seems to have died a death. SBI/HBI is a great initiative, thanks for the reminder about them. I'll have to start gifting them again too :)
