Social Media Challenge - MAGI NECROSI - The Magic Sniper

Hello dear Splinterlands Community, here is another post for the Social Media Challenge!

Today I want to talk about my favourite sniper monster.

The Snipe ability is one of the most powerful abilities in the game. It enables a monster to attack the first non-melee enemy that is not in the first position. This stealth ability I find is a must in any team in order to spread fire across the enemy lineup. My old favourite sniper, Mantoid, is fading away into the background more and more as more powerful monsters take center stage.

Read THIS post to learn more about Mantoid and other good neutral monsters.

My current number one sniper is Magi Necrosi! Unlike Mantoid, Magi Necrosi comes with other abilities and moreover, he is one of the few magic snipers in the game. Check out his stats:

Magi Necrosi has 4 abilities at max level:

Snipe - This ability targets ranged, magic and no-attack monsters that are not in the first position.

Camouflage - This ability provides hidden protection for the monster until it is in first position. This enables the monster to remain at maximum health until the final showdown.

Oppress - This ability does double damage to monsters with no attack.

Stun - This ability has a 50% chance to cause the target monster to skip the next turn.

These abilities, together with 3 magic, 4 speed and 6 health make Magi Necrosi a lethal candidate, especially because he is camouflaged. I find the combination of Snipe and Camouflage to be especially effective. When you pair him with other stealth monster, like Sneak, you will be able to work away at the enemy midfield and backline to wear the opponent down and clear the way to victory, once you have broken through the enemy tank.

I have a nice little battle here to illustrate the effectiveness of a strong stealth lineup featuring Magi Necrosi, twoSneak attackers and an Opportunity monster.

The battle stats are the following:
RULESET(S): Ferocity
MANA: 40
SPLINTERS: red, white, purple and green

Here is the team I put together:

Thaddius Brood features a lot in my battles and was the first Chaos Legion summoner that I leveled up to diamond level.

Cursed Windeku is one of the best medium mana tanks in the game. With Thorns and Heal, this little darling holds the front solid for a long time before he is taken down. More often than not, he is in first position in my Death teams.

Harklaw is acting as a secondary tank here and as we will see in the battle, he was a vital frontline backup to win the fight.

Here is our boy Magi Necrosi. As discussed, the combination of the abilities he has makes him a lethal enemy for any opponent.

Next comes another great Sneak monster, Uraeus. He is probably my most favourite neutral card and two Sneak monsters together can cause a lot of havoc.

Lira The Dark is one of my favourite Chaos Legion legendaries. She provides Swiftness, Opportunity and snare. At 6 speed and 4 range, she is a force to contend with!

Last but not least comes Silent Shavi, He is the second Sneak monster in the team and will make a great contribution to decimate the enemy backline.

So now let's take a closer look at the battle. My opponent fielded a gold level team with a conscript summoner and no gladiator. At first glance, this was an indication that the odds should be in my favour from the start, but it did come close, take a look:

round 1.jpg

Round 1 started with a double charge at the enemy backline. This was not going to be difficult but there was an Enrage monster with 12 health in the first enemy position, which was going to be tough to get through. Clockwork Aid at the end was heavily battered and poisoned to make sure he would not be there in the second round. Cursed Windeku barely survived the round to scrape in with 2 health.

round 2.jpg

Round 2 saw two enemy monsters bite the dust in quick succession but Cursed Windeku also perished. It was 5 to 4 and the enemy tank, Drybone Barbarian was standing firm. He retaliated and got healed to this was going to be harder than I thought.

round 3.jpg

Harklaw was the first to be toasted in Round 3, which brought Magi Necrosi to the front, causing the battle to come into the critical phase. Fortunately, the enemy team was sufficiently hammered to give us a chance of success, although Drybone Barbarian still had 12 health!

round 4.jpg

Round 4 saw two more enemy monsters disappear in a flash, which turned the tables.

In Round 5 Drybone Barbarian was quickly left with no support monsters and was left standing alone against 4 attackers and got stunned. It took one hit in round 6 to end the battle.

Magi Necrosi is a great sniper card. The combination of his abilities, but most of all the Snipe ability as a magic attacker, makes him one of the best snipers in the game. I hope you enjoyed this post and remember: don't go to war without a sniper!
