Just another day after the weekend

My wife's out for her first shift of the week and I'll be home alone, all night. If it were a weekend, I'd have probably just strolled down to a nearby pub but considering I have a very busy day tomorrow, I'll avoid alcohol.

So far, I've been very impressed by the level of discipline I've enforced in myself with respect to beer. My principle is that I only drink on weekends and that's not an easy fit in this part of the world where everyone heads to the pub pretty much every day of the week.

I'm slowly adjusting to the pub life but it's not like I'm new to beer. Even in Nigeria, I was a regular drinker, so I take a few pints from time to time while I'm here.

On Saturday, I finally got the chance to play amateur football with some guys I saw at the park. The final score was 10-8, with my team on the losing end but at least I was the top scorer.

At the end of the match, I'm pleased to say that I've scored more goals than Richarlison, since I've been in the UK. I heard Spurs need a new front 9 and I'll be liasing with @talesfrmthecrypt to help Spurs qualify food Europa league, where they belong.

Anyway, what was interesting about the weekend was that immediately after the match, we went to a nearby pub for beer. That's not usually what I'd do after a stressful game of football but that's how it is here and I have to say, I'm really digging it.

On Sunday, we explored the city and ended up at a pub that's adjacent to the pub I visited on Saturday. That's where I met some really nice picture and was privileged to meet a piece of history.

I and my wife really stood out in the pub and I reckon it's because we're unfamiliar faces. Most people there seemed to know each other but everyone was drunk and nice, just the way I like it.

Pick one

I completely understand why people just can't wait to run to the pubs here. Honestly, if I didn't have a lot of responsibilities and my guiding principles, I'd probably be sleeping there too.

This week promises to be a very tedious week as I'll be having multiple job interviews while also dealing with the stress of a night shift.

Tomorrow, I'll be going out in the morning for one job induction to see if it's a good fit for me. At night, I'll go for a different one to enable me compare and pick the job that I'd prefer. I've already mentally made my choice but I'd like to keep.my options open.

On Wednesday, I also have an interview with a different company that's into food processing. At the same time, I'm waiting to hear from a few other companies where I applied for customer service and copywriter roles.

The point is, this is going to be one hell of a week and just thinking about it is exhausting. However, I came here to chase down leads and improve my life. Things are looking really good right now.

I think you need to get to that point where going to the pub seems a bloody hassle. For me it was the point where I figured out anything I want to learn or be entertained by can be found online, that and I have always had a rule I don't drink at home. Once you find that thing you get sucked into for hours at a time you will mainly complain that free time to do the shit you want is limited. For me that was tutorials on graphic design, vide, 3d etc etc. Goodluck with the jobs.

That’s awesome man keep hustling! Glad you played some football and had a bit of merriment at the pub, I know that it’s important to have that type of stuff!
