Development and witness updates | Devlog 15 | 06 Decemeber 2021
It has been a long since I wrote the #devlog, so here I am with updates about development and witness.
Dev updates
Avatar Issue
With the release of avatar, I saw everywhere the craze and people started using it for almost everything. But some users wanted to remove it, and there was no option to remove that. Yesterday I have worked on adding that feature so you can remove the avatar now. Changes were pushed but may be deployed by today's end.
Read more feature
Also, with growing community and discussions there are, many comments that grow long, and sometimes, you have to scroll more to see other comments, and on every fresh, you need to scroll through all on mobile.
So, I have been thinking to add read more, and I have added comments now at least. It will not be enabled by default, so you need to enable it in preferences, the same way you can disable I this doesn't work for you. The changes are currently in test and will be deployed soon.
If this works, then I will enable the same for posts. but it is not ready yet, as I need to handle the rendering of markdown before slicing as it may not render fine with read more. So, it is a kind of experiment now.
Emojis Support on Desktop Browser
As we know there are no emojis when we access blurt.blog on a desktop browser and only mobiles do we have the option to add emojis, so I am also looking to integrate one in the web version. This is just research going on, and may not be available now. I may be able to make it work by the month-end maybe if I am not on holiday. Haha, devs need a holiday too.
Blocking Voting Service
There has been a lot of discussion going on using and removing delegations, but it all started from the upvote bots and services like #upvu so, we have reached a decision of disabling delegations to those services, and #upvu for now (maybe more later) until we found some good solution. The fix was done by eastmael and also will be deployed by today end.
I was not using upvu but only tomoyan, and I have removed delegation from that tool (even that was 10k blurt only)
So, lots of updates gonna happen today.
Witness updates
As you all know I run a witness node, and I am blessed with the support of other witnesses and the community, so here I am with updates.
First of all last week, I was able to reach the top 10 witness list, thanks to all for making that. But this week I have reached to top 15 because of some changes and witness votes, along with new witness joining.

As you can see I have almost used all my votes and have 6 free votes left because I voted for every witness who in any way is connected to blurt and doing any development or support work.
I may update this list from time to time to keep a list of healthy witnesses.
Other updates
I started #techclub to have discussions regarding tech inspired by double u pub. There is not much craze yet, but I hope it will pick up the pace soon.

I got suggestions from some users, and i will be looking over that suggestions and implementing them.
