Shivering, Angelina held on to her duvet to cover up but her hands were stiff. Her heart pound loudly and she could pick up the little whinny of Jack.

Fear cloud her as she struggle to lift her hands, and legs or open her eyes but all were to no avail. She became scared when her ears picked up a spooky sound from behind her. The voice whispers inaudible words as she found her lungs closed, unable to let out a word. The voices were loud and their laughter was dark as screaming was heard. The voices hum in strange languages and she felt a strange claw on her skin as she struggled for air.

All odds were against her, but Angelina didn't give up and found the will to open her eyes. She turned her neck as her eyes found the clock, it read 2:00 am. That was all her eyes could see before the screaming began again and the light flickered. She tried to call Jack whose whimpering sound now became louder but her lungs were clogged up. It was as if someone or something was pinning her down, but she didn't give up. She pushed and cried out loud in her heart for help. Her will in not giving up was strong enough to not back off until she felt heat soak her bed. She struggled endlessly and muster the strength to stand up to see multiple shadows move out of her room.

She quickly ran over to meet Jack, holding onto him as she spoke;

"What was that?"

She asked Jack in a panicked tone.

Angelina went back to her room holding Jack while touching his fur to calm her racing heart. Her eyes saw the clock and it read 5:00 am. Her mouth was open agape as she could have sworn it was 2:00 am some minutes ago. She cleaned her eyes with her palms and still, the time didn't change. Unable to help herself, she picked up her phone to call Rosa, a close colleague of hers at the Media company where she works when she moved to New Orleans six months ago.

Rosa picked up her phone after the first few ring as Angelina explained everything to her. After a long sigh, Rosa promised to come over as soon as she can and that did calm Angelina a little bit.

Angelina decided to call the agent that found her this Godforsaken house six months ago, to live in, but her number was not reachable. She became alarmed as she began eating her fingers to calm herself. Jack must have sensed the discomfort around her as he barked out loud to get her together but she wasn't moved. She needed someone to talk to as soon as possible before she goes crazy.

Picking up her phone again, she decided to make research on the property and what she saw made her heart stop beating for some minutes... Maybe hours.

Syntell Manor, according to the outcome of her research, was once owned by the Manors who turned out to be a family of sorcerers that caused mayhem in New Orleans, in the early 90s. The family reigned for almost 6 decade and their dark magic was second to none but a calamity befell the household in the late 90s. The entire three generations of the Manors fell and their spirit stuck to the house as their death was a mystery.

After further digging, Angelina found out that she wasn't the first person to experience this series of eerie occurrences at Syntell Manor. She wondered how she missed this important piece of information when she paid her initial deposit to the mortgage six months ago. She has never been a believer in ghosts but with what she went through the previous night, she needed no one to tell her ghosts are real.

She knew she needed to find more information on why the spirit stuck last night. She had lived in the house for six months with no disturbance. Why now? She asks the silence that befalls her. Just when she was about to dig in more, a loud sound rang out as she bumped her leg hard on the floor. She scrambled around in fear until a voice came in.

"Angelina!!! It is me, Rosa, please open up." The voice rang through the intercom.

Sighing deeply, Angelina stood up hurriedly and ran over to the door to allow in 'another human' except her.

"Omg Lina, you look like hell." Screamed out, Rosa, in a pitiful tone.

Not minding Rosa's words, Angelina hugged her tightly as Rosa let herself in.

Rosa sat down on the couch with Angelina still in her embrace. Sighing, she calmed her down with soothing words.

After some long minutes, Angelina decided to fill Rosa in on her research.

" I cannot believe this Lina, not until I told my husband and he confirmed it. He added that he knew people who once stayed here before you did and he didn't know you rented out this place. After a long sigh, Rosa continued.

"We both agree that it will be better if you come over to stay with us until you get a better place. The ghosts are said to always come out during each full moon and they get more aggressive than before."

Checking her watch, she continued. "It is almost midday, we need to pack your stuff and get you to a safe place."

Nodding her head in affirmation, Angelina hugged Rosa again to thank her for coming over to help. She whistled over for Jack, her dog, to come over as they began packing her things as fast as they could to get her to safety.

Spooky! I'll admit research is very important. I can't imagine living in such a house. Too bad Angelina found out about The Manors in this way. Luckily for her, Rosa was there to help. Beautifully written! 🙂

Too bad she had to. That's is why it is very good to always make research on anything before venturing into it.

Thanks for stopping by.

When getting a place to live, it's always wise to investigate the house before making payments. Angelina really had a horrible night. It's always good to have friends like Rosa, who are friends who show up when you need them. Interesting read.

That must have been the worst night ever for Angelina. Thank the heavens for friends like Rosa—friends who can be trusted in our uncertain moments.

Interesting story 👍

This is why, buying a house that someone already lives in doesn't attract me. It was okay if I am just renting a home but if the whole house?
Nooo! Haha, not that I believe in ghosts but I believe in negative energies that might be left.

Nice story by the way!

How creepy! I wouldn't want to be Angelina, that's for sure.😅 A little more research on the house would have saved her from the unnecessary trauma. Beautiful plot and turn of events @balikis95
