Michaung - Chennai Rains getting worse

Yesterday I wrote an article about mating calls by Frogs. The situation has worsened here in chennai. We have a severe Cyclone near Chennai. The cyclone is still very active and bringing us lots of rains. Usually when cyclone happens, there will be too much of wind and less rains but yhis time we are having both rain as well as heavy winds. The rains have been non stop creating water logging everywhere.

We had severe floods in chennai during 2015 and now again we are having severe floods. Even though the government is trying to take a lot of precautions, it cannot be helped because nobody can prevent natural disasters from happening.

The above website shows the current status of rains and the positon of Cyclone. It iss expected that rains would continue for another 12 hours at least and it would be heavy until the Cyclone has crossed some land and the intensity is reduced. For the past few days there were alerts on the cyclone but nobody expected the intensity of the cyclone to be this much.

Yesterday night after I went to sleep, it was continuously raining for the whole night and i thought things would settle down before morning. Nobody in our family expected things to be this worse. Water logging is everywhere and unfortunately we have also had water coming inside our house. Initially water started coming inside the kitchen and slowly it started coming inside other rooms too.

We started shifting things inside the house to one layer above where even if water comes inside it would not affect the ground level items. But the sad thing is that the furnitures are also getting wet now and if the rain continues like this for one more day, we will lose some of the furnitures.

Thankfully we have upstairs where my room is located. We have now moved some of the things upstairs and have planned to stay upstairs today. The only thing that is still on the ground right now is our inverter and battery. If the water level keeps increasing, we have no other option than moving the inverter and battery above some furniture.

This is the current situation right now. There is no drain facility available for the water the go outside. Even after the rain stops, it will take a lot of time for us to clean the house and bring it back to shape. Until then we have to see how we can arrange food for tomorrow. We dont have a facility to cook for tomorrow until we clean up the floor.

With the help of inverter and power backup, I was able to charge my phones. It has been nearly a day without power supply. The backup power will also run out soon. This is definitely a different experience compared to what we had on 2015 because back then our house was not affected by rains but this year we are experiencing issues inside our house itself.
