Doing everything

How I feel right now

We all have dreams, things we aspire to become, things we are working towards, things we have started but can't seem to finish, and also things we haven't even started but wish we could do somewhere along the line. And the thing about these dreams is that they're endless, the list goes on and on and it keeps on increasing. Today it could be to create something, tomorrow to become something, or we see someone doing something we can't and we want to be like that person. The human mind can be very random like that especially when you're young and in your formative years. This randomness can make it harder when picking the path you want your life to take. You see this, you want this, you see that you want that, and while variety is the spice of life if you're constantly changing paths all your life it'll be really really hard to pave a significant part. Hear me out, I said difficult not impossible. There have been people who have worked hard enough to be able to do everything, but note that it will take a lot more time.

Think of it this way, if you and I are tasked with digging a hole 6 ft deep, same equipment same everything. You focus on a particular spot and then I dig around, dig left, dig right, clear the surrounding area, dig that too, just keep digging. Who will finish first? Of course, the answer is you. But then, there's a cool flip side of things. Whenever I eventually finish, maybe hours or even days after you, If someone wants to cover both holes, the hole you dug will be covered way faster than mine.

What does all this mean? Honestly, I don't know (just messing with you). There are actually many interpretations of this, but the one I choose to see is this. While the road to what we want may be slightly delayed, take extra time, look like we are falling behind, or maybe we aren't doing it right, doubts and worries cloud our minds. If we continue, by the time we finally get there we'll have built something that can't easily be wiped away. Something secure and stable and then we'd see that while it may have taken longer to achieve, it was ultimately worth it cause it means we don't have to do it again. Reminds me of the old saying, "Whatever is worth doing is worth doing right." Do it right and you'll be happy you did.

Ok, so back to the main premise. I want to do everything, how do I do everything? The simple answer is I can't, but I can. I know I've definitely got your head spinning after reading this trust me my head is warped a bit too. I can't do everything because it is physically impossible for me to do everything, but then I can do everything by taking the time to do each thing at a time very well, the list will never end, but if I do it well enough it won't need to. If it doesn't make sense think about it again. In some weird way, it makes sense to me and I guess that is acceptable in a self reflection post. I know what I must do.

I guess this little rambling has given you a glimpse (even if it's just for a moment) at my ever random mind. Thanks for taking this walk with me. Hopefully, I tickled your brain a little.

Sometimes we try to do so many things at one moment and that gives us undivided attention. Doing something means doing it right. I prefer to do something with my full attention and getting it done right than just doing it shabbily.

Whatever is worth doing is worth doing right.

A mantra which I try to abide by because it's not just about getting work done but the value of the work done.

The simple answer is I can't, but I can.

I guess you can do everything if you want to do everything. The main thing is actually been determined, knowing what you're up against and also being able to manage time properly. Managing time should actually be the first time here cause it can be so difficult to be rigid in timing. It's so easy to procrastinate and the worst part is time runs a lot when you're procrastinating. "Alright I'll clear my room,I just need to lay down for like five minutes", Twenty five minutes' already up.

That got me, and I totally agree with you.
