#Newbies Task 4/ Tags, Tipping Tokens, and Use of Hive Engine

The newbies initiative task 4 is out, and we move as usual.
Firstly, I want to thank @starstrings01 and his team for the great work they are doing.
I have learnt a lot from this initiative and I'm still learning new things everytime. They take their time to analyze and explain concept and we can always ask questions on topics discussed or any other issue. Thank you so much for your dedication. I really appreciate you.

This week's task is not like the previous weeks for me because I had to study this like I have an examination to write. It's a bit wide and involves a lot of technicalities. I took my time to understand it in-depth before going ahead to give answers to the task.

The tutorial materials have been dropped few days before we had the usual meeting last Sunday, and we discussed the topic: Tag, Tipping Tokens, and the Use of Hive Engine

Now to the questions.

1. How do you distinguish tags from tokens? What are the similarities and differences as well as the types involved?

  • Tags are labels or topics we use at the end of our post to create visibility for our contents
  • While tokens are coins created by communities to reward authors for posting in their community or using their tags.
  • Tokens can be earned by using the tags of these communities in our post regardless of the community the post was made.
*:Examples of these tokens are neoxag, Leo,pimp, CCC, LOH and the likes.
  • Examples of the tags are #neoxain #vyb #pimp #creativecoin, #proofofbrain and many others.

2. Select at least two random community tribes of your choice, explore their frontend and give us a review of what you think after going through your profile and feed.

I explored the frontend of neoxian city and inleo.

  • Inleo is quite broad and easy to use. I was able to see my tokens from the interface and I loved the idea that I could do a lot on the interface.

  • The neoxian city interface is also very user friendly. Just by checking it out, I discovered that my tokens are divided into two just like hive.
I love the way it explain everything and I was able to see the neoxag tokens I earn just by using their tag in my wallet.

3. What are tipping tokens? Give two examples and abuses of the service.

  • Tipping Tokens are the act of sharing tokens with other users with the use of command. When a user appreciate my work, they may give me a tip by using the tip command. An example of this is the LOH token or the pizza token.

  • This service is usually abused when users use another account to tip themselves that's farming such token.

4. Buy and sell a tribe token or any Hive Engine token of your choice. Show the process you took to make this transaction with the necessary screenshots.

For this task, I was able to buy and sell neoxag tokens which I find interesting.

  • To do this, the first thing you must do is to convert some amount of Hive to swap.hive because that is the token accepted for the exchange. Through https://beeswap.dcity.io/convert/

  • Below is my balance after the purchase.

  • I also went ahead and follow the same process to sell 100 neoxag. The difference here is that I'm selling not buying.

  • Below is my balance after the sale.

This was really adventurous for me. I found it interesting and I felt fulfilled that I could carry out this process.
Thanks to the newbies initiative team. Your good work is immensely appreciated.

This is my response to the newbies initiative task 4, on Tags, Tipping Tokens and use of Hive Engine.
Thanks for stopping by.

Hello there, @aunty-tosin I hope this meets you well. I love this post- it is detailed and straight to the point. As usual, I love your Canva image. Most communities value original images, and it would be nice if you can keep using cover images like this one in your posts.

Also, the fact that you supported this post with pictures shows that you clearly understand how everything works- good one. One thing you should know about tipping tokens is that they shouldn’t be abused. In the same vein, tags can also be abused. For example, using Hl-exclusive or Hl-we (which is basically for hive learners prompts) in non-hive learners posts is considered a serious offense.

Lastly, Aunty-tosin, don’t forget to always justify your works. It makes your posts easier to read.

Good one! Keep it up!
