Greetings Hivers, welcome to the Weekly ASEAN Hive "Hot Goss", where I @justinparke dig up false ASEAN Hive rumors and spread even more, but all in satirical fun and support of Southeast Asian content on Hive.

Β  Β  Β The fuel prices in Indonesia are currently very high, sparking many protests, and now GINGER IN MALAYSIA HAS REACHED AN ALL TIME HIGH PRICE. There haven't been any protests similar to what's happening in Indonesia, but surely customers will organize some resistance if things don't change soon.
Β  Β  Β You're probably wondering, who in the would buy ginger at $14.99? I assume that is the price per kilo, a price I would expect in Tokyo or New York City, but not Malaysia. If you're asking yourself, "Don't they use Malaysian Ringit there and not US Dollar?", stop asking yourself that question, this curation is just a trip to silly town.

Β  Β  Β Most of you probably know about our pirate ASEAN Hiver @watusiwoman's blog, where I've seen sharks, Komodo dragons, and many more interesting things. Well, it looks like @WATUSIWOMAN UPGRADED HER VESSEL IN THE MOST RECENT RAID, and was spotted anchored at the edge of international waters, almost as if to tempt Indonesian authorities.
Β  Β  Β It appears to be a cargo ship, so I can only assume she's gotten in over her head on this one, with fellow ASEAN Hivers refusing assistance for fear of prosecution. Trading wind for diesel seems like an irrational move, but the life of a pirate is one we regular folk will never understand.

Β  Β  Β Duterte was notorisouly tough on drugs in the Philippines, but now that he is out of power, FILIPINOS EVERYWHERE ARE NOW SELLING POWDER AGAIN. As for what kind of powder is the latest craze in the Philippines, the Ministry of Tourism has instructed locals to keep the recipe a secret in an effort to prevent copycatting and increase international travel and tourism to the country.
Β  Β  Β Rumor has it that butter is one of the ingredients, not an illegal substance, but considered by many westerners to be highly addictive and satisfying. If anybody takes a trip there soon, perhaps you can report on the details of this not illegal powder.

Until Next Time ASEAN Hivers....

Β  Β  Β Don't forget that this curation is merely fictional satire, so don't take anything I write too seriously.

I hope things stabilize soon. If you already driving a motorbike, you're doing the best you can do, nothing smaller than a moto to travel long distances.

Facebook is also now the place for Cambodians to complain too, especially with the new wave of super cheap smartphones, now everyone has equal access to complain online πŸ˜†.

Recently, a lot of Malaysians have gotten jobs as scammers in Cambodia as free workers.. tortured.. have you heard about it? Then many have been killed and dumped. They thought they were going to Cambodia for a luxurious job.. that is high paying.. =)

Oh no, Malaysians too, I've heard of many Indians, Nepalese, and also some Filipinos being tricked into these prisonlike apartments where they are forced to work as online scammers. It seems it's usually mainland Chinese mafia organizing these schemes, and it coincides with the loss of revenue from all the Chinese state-owned casinos here.

Just last week all the casinos in Cambodia were closed, so now all these bigshots will be seeking new alternative ways to get back their investment. I fear this online scammer prisons will be even more common in the next few years.

5 years ago the rich urban Chinese were tricking poor uneducated Chinese citizens into coming here, but now they seem to have switched their targeting to different nationalities. There have even been several cases of blood donor slaves being rescued, almost all of them illiterate and uneducated Chinese citizens lured here under false promises, so sad.

Hi hi Justin.. wow.. that is really scary.. I think from what I've heard of in statistic is that 10000 Malaysians are locked in prison like apartments. Many have died and no one knows where they are. Yea, I've heard that the owners are from China. Usually, the victims who are tricked there are electrocuted beaten tortured not allowed to sleep and even sold to different gangs. Only this year, this has been exposed.

Wow.. it must have been scary for those blood donor slaves. Nothing is too good to be true.
