Beloved Alma Mater, Hail! | Wednesday Walk

The last time I was here was during an almni homecoming a year after we graduated. Yes, that was nearly three decades ago. Too far away and yet as I set foot inside my alma mater, everything seemed all too familiar. I felt so at home.

The school was a Benedictine school before and became a Diocesan school during our senior year. I was able to wear the two uniforms, and carry two logos during my stay. What an honor it was!

There's been lots of changes ever since. From the gate to this pergola. Here, we used to sit and wait in the morning before the classes started, and in the afternoon as we waited for our ride back home.

They built big stone arches that gave the school a what do you call that, Romanesque vibe? Or something. I'm not an expert in architecture.

This was the grade school building back in the day. Now, I think the pre-school department is here. They added one more floor to it to cater to more students.

Further down, we reached the Offices - Registrar's office, cashier, guidance office. There is also a bell at the center, including the image of Our Lady of Caysasay.

The library is still where it used to be. There's also lots of memories here. I was not that student who always went to the library, but yeah... those times were the times!

This tree in the middle of the school grounds had been there ever since I started school here and it's still there standing tall and proud!

In the background is the gymnasium which was constructed during our high school days. At the right is the high school department. Lots of memories here.

This #WednesdayWalk took me back to where it all began. Leaving my alma mater that day, my heart was overflowing with gratitude for the memories that had shaped my life. The echoes of the past had become a symphony of gratitude and fondness that resonated within me. Walking back into the present, I carried with me the lessons, friendships, and moments that had become the foundation of my journey.

I understand your feeling of going through your alma mater once again after such a long time. I have beautiful memories of both the school where I studied and the university and the few times I have had the opportunity to return is as you say as if I were in a place where I belong.

By the way, I love the architecture of your alma mater.

Yes, and walking through it with my children with me, took it to a different level. Like I was able to give them a first-hand glimpse of my younger years.

And yes, to the architecture! I agree. It blends so well with the architecture of the Basilica just right next to it. I will have to share more about the church some time soon.
