Usually I never write about what I do on chains other than Hive: the main reason is that, in fact, I don't usually do anything that isn't on Hive 😂

However, Hive isn't the first chain I've dealt with, so in the - short - period leading up to my appearance here I've also been exploring other blockchains, gaining some familiarity and collecting small amounts of various tokens.

Until now, most of these tokens have remained where they were, waiting for them to be of some use, sometimes almost forgotten and often with values that, over time, have fallen even further.

A few days ago, however, an opportunity arose to leverage some of them to do something that, if not useful, might at least be fun: in fact, I first came across this [post](https://ecency. com/mancave/@brofund/introducing-dollargifu-a-gif-token-for-the-binance-smart-chain), in which @brofund (@raymondspeaks) announced the launch of a new meme token on the Binance Smart Chain (BSC), and then [this other](https://ecency. com/hive-167922/@steemychicken1/gifu-token-5vd) by @steemychicken1, in which they talked again about this token, a.k.a. GIFU, and its post-launch state.

I'm not usually the kind of guy who invests money in meme tokens, but in this case, as I said, I happened to have some unused dollars on the Binance Smart Chain - some CAKEs and BSWs that had been sitting there gathering dust for years - so, since I already follow with interest some of @raymondspeaks' projects on Hive, I thought “why not?”.

Hence I went to PancakeSwap, the most famous swap on the Binance Smart Chain, and swapped my CAKE and BSW for slightly less than 100k GIFUs.

And there they are, my 97,000 GIFUs, worth - listen carefully - $5.25 USD!

Certainly a tiny amount, but the funds I had on the BSC were low, so I couldn't do more than that...

Furthermore, it must also be considered that the GIFU token has a max supply of 1 billion tokens, so my investment, although small, represents almost 0.01% of the token's entire supply: this means that if GIFU reached a market cap of $10 million I would end up with $1,000 which, although not a life-changing amount, would still be a nice return on a $5 investment 😅

Of course, I'd be eating my hands afterwards for not buying more when I could, but that's the fate of most crypto-investors, so I will live with it 😂

Beyond the meme

By the way, the GIFU token is not only a meme token, but also aspires to become the pivot around which will revolve a platform designed to welcome all meme and gif creators who wish to monetise their work and talent through the potential of web3.0.

So actually here we have something that begins as a meme token but aims to become something much bigger.

Will it succeed?

Who knows, I have no idea, I admit, but on Hive both BRO and LGN have achieved very good results, so for 5 dollars I guess I can happily risk it and see what happens: if it goes wrong I won't have lost anything, if it goes right I'll have the funds to make a great power up on Hive!

The website also features a description of the team behind the project, and apart from @raymondspeaks, the other name that stands out - at least for me - is the one of @cryptoeater, the user with the most SPS staked on Splinterlands - almost 38,000,000 😅 - and also creator of the Push and Shove (PNS) token meme, connected to the Splinterlands universe.

Di solito non scrivo mai di quel che faccio su chain diverse da Hive: il motivo principale è che, in realtà, di solito non faccio nulla che non sia su Hive 😂

Tuttavia, Hive non è la prima chain con cui ho avuto a che fare, per cui, nel - breve - periodo che ha preceduto il mio arrivo qui ho esplorato anche altre blockchains, acquisito un po' di dimestichezza ed accumulato piccoli importi di vari token.

Sino ad oggi la maggior parte di questi token sono rimasti lì dove erano, nell'attesa che potessero servire a qualcosa, a tratti quasi dimenticati e spesso con valori che, nel tempo, sono scesi ancora di più.

Pochi giorni fa si è però presenta l'occasione di sfruttarne qualcuno per fare qualcosa se non utile, quantomeno divertente: mi sono infatti imbattuto dapprima in questo post, in cui @brofund (@raymondspeaks) annunciava il lancio di un nuovo meme token sulla Binance Smart Chain (BSC), e poi in quest'altro di @steemychicken1, in cui si tornava a parlare di questo token, a.k.a. GIFU, e della sua situazione post-lancio.

Di solito non sono il tipo che va ad investire soldi in meme token, ma in questo caso, come dicevo, mi sono ritrovato con alcuni dollari inutilizzati sulla Binance Smart Chain - alcuni CAKE e BSW che stavano lì a prendere polvere da anni - per cui, dato che su Hive seguo già con interesse alcuni progetti di @raymondspeaks, ho pensato "perchè no?".

Sono quindi andato su PancakeSwap, lo swap più famosa della Binance Smart Chain, ed ho scambiato i miei CAKE e BSW con poco meno di 100k GIFU.

Ed ecco qua i miei 97.000 GIFU, dal controvalore - udite, udite - di $5,25 USD!

Sicuramente una somma minuscola, ma i fondi che avevo sulla BSC erano pochi, per cui più di così non potevo fare...

Inoltre bisogna anche considerare che il token GIFU ha una max supply di 1 miliardo di token, per cui il mio investimento, per quanto piccolo, rappresenta comunque quasi lo 0,01% dell'intera supply del token: ciò significa che se GIFU arrivasse ad un market cap di 10 milioni di dollari mi ritroverei con 1000 dollari che, sebbene non siano una cifra che mi cambi la vita, sarebbero comunque un bel guadagno a fronte di un investimento di 5 dollari 😅

Certo, dopo mi mangerei le mani per non averne comprati di più quando potevo, ma questo è il destino della maggior parte dei crypto-investitori, per cui me ne farò una ragione 😂

Oltre il meme

Fra l'altro il token GIFU non è solo un meme token, ma punta anche a diventare il perno attorno a cui girerà una piattaforma destinata ad accogliere tutti i creatori di meme e gif che vogliano monetizzare il proprio lavoro e talento attraverso il potenziale del web3.0.

Per cui in realtà qui abbiamo qualcosa che nasce sì come meme token ma che ha l'obiettivo di diventare qualcosa di ben più grande.

Ce la farà?

Chi lo sa, ammetto di non averne la minima idea, ma su Hive sia BRO che LGN hanno prodotti ottimi risultati, per cui per 5 dollari credo di poter tranquillamente rischiare e stare a vedere cosa succede: se andrà male non avrò perso nulla, se andrà bene avrò i fondi per fare un gran bel power up su Hive!

Sul sito è anche descritto il team che si trova dietro al progetto e, oltre a @raymondspeaks, spicca - almeno per me - anche il nome di @cryptoeater, l'utente che su Splinterlands possiede più SPS staked di tutti - quasi 38.000.000 😅 - nonchè creatore del meme token Push and Shove (PNS), legato all'universo di Splinterlands.
