Explosive Range Attacker, Prismologist!
Hello Everyone!
I'm back again with my Splinterlands post to take part in the Splinterlands Weelky Battle Challenge. It's a little hard to make time in the middle of a long holiday for Christmas and New Year celebrations in 2023. But I try not to leave this week's challenge because this week's theme is one of the monsters that I use quite often in battle, which is the Chaos Legion edition of Epic monster from the Life element, Prismologist.
It's not difficult for me to take part in this challenge because the Life element is the element I always rent when pushing rank, and the Prismologist is almost always on my deck in high mana battles. But I'm trying to pick one of the battles that I find most interesting for me to share with you, and I hope you like what I share.
I'm neither a proplayer nor a tournament hero. I just enjoys sharing srategy and battles that I find interesting in my own view. So don't imagine this is going to be a very extraordinary battle. Well, let's see what this battle looks like, and what strategy I use in the rulesets in this battle.
Well, this is a modern battle rank in the gold league, and maybe the strategy I'm going to share may not apply to the other leagues because the active abilities of each monster will be different in each league.
Ok, guys, before heading to the point of this post, let's take a look at the Stats of the Prismologist in the image below:
Prismologist have 8 mana which are suitable for medium and high mana battles. The stats owned correspond to the height of mana. At level 1, the Blast ability is active and this monster already has 3 ranged damage. The addition of abilities occurs at level 4 or in the Gold league, namely the active ability Forcefield and at the max level of this monster Silence ability will be active. Really an interesting monster, isn't it?
BATTLE PREPARATION
Rulesets
- Fog of War (Monsters lose the Sneak and Snipe abilities)
- Mana Capacity 99
- Elements Active Fire, Water, Earth, Life, and Death.
Line-Up and Strategy
The battle with mana 99 seems to me to be quite fun, because we can use a lot of monsters that have large mana. All monsters lose Sneak and Snipe abilities, so strong tanks are needed and support abilities from other monsters are also needed for tanks to survive strongly. Grandmaster Rathe will be the Summoner in this battle, and the complete line-up and strategy of each monster I choose will be explained in the table below.
Monster | Position | Abilities | Strategy |
---|---|---|---|
Grandmaster Rathe | Summoner | +1 Armor, Void Armor, Amplify | Grandmaster Rathe is a summoner who is very suitable for defensive strategies, especially from magic attacks. |
Uriel The Purifier | First (Tank) | Flying, Recharge, Heal | I chose Uriel the Purifier level 3 as a tank. With buffs from Grandmaster Rathe eating these monsters will be able to withstand all kinds of attacks both Melee, Range, and Magic. Flying ability will increase the chances of miss atack, the active Heal ability will make this monster stronger because it can restore HP. This monster already has an initial HP of 12, so once heal will restore 4 HP. I ignored the attack from this monster because of its super tricky Recharge ability, but if the momentum is right, this monster will have 12 Melee damage which is definitely very deadly. |
Consair Bosun | Second (Second Tank, Attacker) | Reach, Reflection Shield | Consair Bosun level 3, although not a level for the Gold league, but the ability I need is enough at this level. This monster is the second tank because it has a Reflection Shield and at the same time as an Attacker because it has 5 Melee attacks. |
Runemancer Atuat | Third (Attacker, Support) | Headwinds, Forcefield, Last Stand | Although this monster only has a speed of 1 and 2 magic attacks, but this monster has very useful abilities. Headwinds will provide a reduced range attack debuff. If both tanks die, this monster is also quite strong as a tabk because it has high HP and active Forcefield ability. Besides, this monster has Last Stand ability, but I think this will be useless in this battle hehe 😁 |
Time Mage | Fourth (Support, Attacker) | Slow, Rust | These monsters have very useful debuffs, namely Slow and Rust. Slow will reduce the speed of all the opponent's monsters, this will increase the chances of victory because the opponent becomes slower. In addition, Rust ability will eliminate 2 Armor from all opposing monsters. The weakness of this monster is that the HP is the smallest in this formation, allowing it to be the target of the Opportunity monster and may be the first dead monster. |
Adelade Brightwing | Fifth (Support, Attacker) | Flying, Repair, Resurrect, Immunity | Adelade Brightwing is the most important support in this formation, because of the ability it has. Repair ability will restore 2 Armor that have been damaged by the opponent's attack, and this ability is indeed very suitable to be combined with Grandmaster rathe who buffs +1Armor and Void Armor. In addition, the Resurrect ability will also be very useful for resurrecting the first dead monster from the team. |
Prismologist | Last (Main Attacker) | Blast, Forcefield | The Prismologist is the main attacker in this battle. 4 Range attacks that have Blast, become very Explosive in one attack. The position is the rearmost because the Range of monsters can only attack from a long distance. |
Wow, the opponent uses the Summoner Possibilus The Wise, Chaos Legion Legendary summoner from the Water element which gives +2HP buffs, Tramples and Reach Abilities. This is an interesting battle because both teams use the Chaos Legion Legendary Summoner. Diemonshark that have Enrage ability at first position, then Coeulr Lurker with Taunt, Dodge, and Phase abilities at second place, Runemnacer Kye that have 3 Magic attacks and Life Leech ability at third place, Deeplurker with Poison and Opportunity abilities at fourth place, Angelic Mnadarin with Triage ability at Fifth place and Phanton of the Abyss with high speed, Flying, Dodge, and Demoralize abilities at last position.
Well, to be honest, at first glance, the opposing team is stronger than my team, but who knows what will happen next? Let's jump to the Battlefield!
LET'S GO TO THE BATTLEFIELD!!!

Let's discuss the course of the round by round match.
This battle begins by featuring buffs and debuffs from all Summoners and monsters. Phanton of the Abyss has the highest speed among other monsters, so it has the opportunity to be the first attacker. Diemonshark and Coeurl Lurker's attack on Uriel The Purifier missed. Likewise, an attack from my Prismologist mess missed the mark on Coeurl Lurker. At the end of the first round, magic attacks from Runemancer Atuat and Adelade Brightwing also missed to hit on Coeurl Lurker.
Early in the second round, an interesting thing happened. 9 Melee attacks from Uriel the Purifier that the previous round did a Recharge hit Diemonshark right. Diemonshark eventually became the first dead monster after being defeated by Consair Bosun. But not long after that my Uriel the Purifier also died for the first time. and then Adelade Brightwing resurrected Uriel the Purifier. Unlike the first round which saw a lot of miss attacks, in this round only an attack from Adelade Brightwing to oeurl Lurkel missed.
The beginning of the third round my Tame Mage died of poison. The slow and Rust debuffs have disappeared and now the speed of all the opposing monsters is back to normal. Coeurl Lurker's attack missed hitting Uriel the Purifier, but eventually Uriel the Purifier died after getting an attack from Runemancer Kye and Angelic. An attack from a Prismologist missed hitting Coeurl Lurker. Well that's right indeed Coeurl Lurker is quite difficult to hit. Coeurl Lurker died at the end of the third round after receiving an attack from Adelade Brightwing.
Runemancer Kye and Consair Bosun are now both in first place. At the beginning of round four, Consair Bosun gets back-to-back attacks from Phantom of the Abyss, Runemancer Kye, and angelic Mandarin. After that Consair Bosun got chance to hit Runemancer Kye. Deeplurker missed out on Adelade Brightwing, And this was the only attack that Miss in this round.
In the fifth round, Consair Bosun died after being crushed by Deeplurker. Similarly, Runemancer Kye died after being attacked by a Prismologist. Now each team has 3 monsters left.
Because all my monsters have a smaller speed than the opponent, I get consecutive attacks and can only retaliate after all the opposing monsters have their turn to attack. Deeplurker died as a result of the Prismologist's attack, and now the opposing team has only 2 monsters left.
In the seventh round, Only the Phantom of the Abyss can attack. Although the attack is a magic attack, but this only hits the Atuat runemancer Armor which is later repaired by Adelade Brightwing. This is already clear the opponent is unlikely to win.
The eighth round is the last round. Although the Prismologist's attack missed, I won after the Phantom of the Abyss died due to Adelade Brightwing's attack.
STRATEGY DISCUSSION
Although at first my team looked weak, in the end I won this battle with 3 monsters left. This means that my strategy worked well in this battle. To be honest, the Prismologist's performance was a little disappointing in this battle, because several times missed hitting the target. The reason, of course, is because of the difference in speed. Even though the opponent did not receive a speed buff, but there were still many miss attacks that occurred.
Some of the points I can take from this battle include:
- Prismologist is a monster that is more suitable to be used for high mana battles
- Prismologist has great damage but his attacks often miss because they have a low speed.
- In normal battles, Prismologists need other monsters that buff speed so that their attacks don't miss too much.
- In battles in the Gold league, this monster is quite good to use for rear tanks because it has Forcefield ability.
Well, even though in this battle the Prismologist's performance is not satisfactory, but I will still use this monster in other battles. I quite liked this monster especially in the battle with high mana.
