Four children electrocuted by an high tension cable that fell on a container in Ondo state, Nigeria

It was a tragic incident in Ondo state, Nigeria, as four children who were playing were electrocuted to death by an high tension cable that fell on a container on Thursday 21,2022 during their visit to their Aunt's shop in Okeigbo Local Government.

This happened when they were in the house playing when power holding company of Nigeria (PHCN) brought light which they all celebrated it, and it was not long when they heard sparking in their aunt's container not knowing to them that an high tension cable that has current in it has cut which was on the ground, and part of it was still on the container.

An eyewitness revealed that the children who were visiting their aunt for the Easter celebration got electrocuted while playing in the shop.source

Based on the eye witness report, this means that the children weren't aware that the high tension cable was on the container and probably the ground was also wet. It didn't take long for the electricity distribution company to restore power to the area.

This power restoration caused the tragic incident that occurred today. This is so disheartening because these children were on holidays waiting for school to resume.

One of the survivors identified as Blessing said it was when electricity was restored in the area that the cable fell on the container shop.
She said: “As we ran out of the container, the wire trapped our legs and we could not walk again. So, I sat on the plank that was close to me, but the remaining children started shaking and vomiting blood.source

The children called for help and good Nigerians came to their rescue but before the arrival of the rescuers, four of the children were already dead, while the remaining children were rushed to the General hospital, Ile-Oluji.
