The LabCoat That Saved The Day.

Hello Hive needle workers..

For the love of thread and the community I made this with my threads.😃

How are you doing and hope you had a great weekend.

Last week Thursday, I noticed Anthony a neighbor of mine looking so downcast after school.

"What's wrong Tony?" I asked him because I had never seen him looking so gloomy before, Tony is a very cheerful teenager who loves to come around my office in the evening just to say Hello, but this day was different, he greeted me without enthusiasm and then I knew something was wrong.

"I will fail my Biology test if I do not go to school with a lab coat tomorrow, I've told my parent about it but they said they do not have money to make or buy one for me at the moment." Anthony poured out his heart to me and I felt it so badly.

There's an adage I always live by which says "Make it your goal to leave people happier than you found them."

I was making a maternity dress for a client at the moment this happened, I had to pack the dress aside and look for a way out for Anthony.

"What do I do now?" I soliloquized thinking of a way out, I searched around to see if I had the China white, the regular fabrics for making a lab coat, but I had none.

So, I gave him money to go buy a trouser length of the fabric in a fashion store around my office which he did.

The China White Fabric

It was almost getting dark, but I made up my mind to ensure I made the lab coat for him no matter what as I would be so heartbroken to see him fail because of a lack of lab coat.

I placed the fabric on the table and began to cut using a standard measurement.

I marked out the shoulder, and neckline and extended the neckline with three inches for the front and then I marked out his length and cut it out.

I placed it on the back bodice and cut out the back bodice too.

For the back bodice neckline, I used a one-inch depth and 3.5 inches wide.

I secured the open neck with pins before cutting out the back bodice.

And then I cut out the pockets for the sides.

I used pins to secure it to the place I wanted it to before I moved to my sewing machine.

Then I cut a wide strap to turn the front neckline and began to secure it with my stitch using a sewing machine.

I was in a haste to finish up the lab coat before it got very late as it was already dark here, so I didn't remember to take the pictures of the collar, I just went ahead to cut it out, turned it and placed it on the coat and sewed every stitch with love.

I joined the sides, cut out the sleeves and attached it to the bodice of the lab coat.

I turned the back slit and gave it a good press.

And tada....

Anthony's Labcoat was ready, his face beamed with hope and unexplainable joy as I handed the lab coat to him.

I felt fulfilled that I could save his practical with just a lab coat.

Aww, you have a good heart Amie, I know that feeling as a science student, owning a lab coat is part of biology test mark then, and you saved the day.

Well done sis.
