A Shift Dress Styled In Two Ways.

Hello Needleworkers.

It's been a minute in this community, #whipsweat, I've been trying to multitask since I have a lot of projects online and offline and so many deadlines to meet

It good thing, I am here, I made a very simple shift dress for my cousin whom I visited because of the public holiday in my country.

She's been telling me to make her something nice and since we both live far from each other, I have been procrastinating making an outfit for her until recently when I concluded I would be visiting her.

This fabric is a very beautiful one which looks like the adire fabric however it is a London crepe fabric with little stones.

I folded the fabrics using her hip measurement since that's the biggest part of her body.

I measured the bust, waistline and full length and then cut it out using her actual body measurement.

This fabric is so easy to work with, the only struggle I had was trying to take off the stones where necessary so that my machine needle could pass through.

It's just a simple dress so I made a fold like I do when cutting a kaftan or boubou.

After sewing it on my machine I went ahead to hem the neckline using a hand needle.

This dress has a sleeve cut together with the bodice, so there's no different sleeve for this outfit.

I joined all together using my sewing machine, it took me less than an hour to make this outfit.

This is what the outcome looks like.

I have a tiny strap at home that I use to secure the waistline which shows that the shift dress can be styled in different ways.

Here is what the dress looks like without attaching the strap to it. Would you rather rock it without the strap?

And here is what it looks like attaching the strap to it that gives it a very fitted look.

I think I love it this way, so here are my different shots showing you different angles of the dress.

Here is the side view of the dress.

I have delivered the dress to my cousin and she's excited to rock it, I hope to make more outfits for her when next I come to visit her.

Welcome Amie ❤️, I think I love it with the strap.

I have not been consistent here either. It is not easy, especially when you have an offline job that is time-consuming

I think I also like it better with the strap, it kind of gives it some eloquence
Without the strap is also nice and it give it some rich aunty vibes.

Your cousin must be very happy with the dress. Being able to finish it in an hour is amazing. Having it with the strap looks better :)

It looks beautiful, I prefer that the dress has an adjustment at the waist, it looks nice like that, the fabric has a very nice pattern, I really like the work you did :3
