My Pet Peeves

Loud chewing and chewing with your mouth open are two common pet peeves. Many people find it annoying and gross. People find chewing with your mouth open gross because no one wants to see what’s inside your mouth. No one wants to see the food mixing together. When people are chewing loudly people can find the sound really annoying and distracting. Chewing with your mouth open can make someone not want to eat their food.
We all have things that annoy us, those little things that annoy us more than they should. One of my biggest pet peeves is people chewing loudly. It sounds like a simple thing, but the sound of someone smacking their lips together and biting into their food can get on my nerves like nothing else. The main reason people chew loudly is not known but it's annoying. The sound of someone chewing with their mouth open is annoying and distracting, and it's hard to focus on anything else while it's happening and it irritates me a lot.

There was a time when one of my friends visited me, his name was Emmanuel, and he is the type that loves tea with bread a lot and that very day that was the food I was served, just before he knocked on the door. I told him to come in, and later I invited him to join me. He quickly sprung into action, as if he hadn't eaten for days. We started having breakfast together in the same Cup but I wasn't the type that likes having tea with someone in the same cup. He started his trademark as soon as he bit into his bread. Whether I was reading a book or trying to have a conversation with someone, the loud chewing sound always found a way of disturbing me, so I hate it when people chew loudly. Just then my friend Emmanuel started chewing the bread loudly. Also due to the places I have lived when I was growing up, we were made to know that chewing loudly is a bad habit so it bothers me when I see someone chewing loudly. We are taught from a young age to chew food with our mouths closed, and when someone chooses to ignore this social norm, it can be seen as disrespectful and unattractive. Even if someone isn't trying to be rude on purpose, chewing loudly can seem boorish. The sound of someone chewing can cause dizziness and even a headache. It's a rare reaction, but it's something I've had for as long as I can remember. As I was struggling to cope with the way he chews, my friend still dipped his bread in the cup of tea, thereby causing the bread to draw in the whole liquid in the cup. Because of this, being around someone who chews loudly and a foodie can be physically uncomfortable for me. In conclusion, loud chewers annoy me for several reasons. it can be interpreted as rude, and it causes an uncomfortable physical response in me. Although it may seem like a simple thing, the sound of loud chewing can have a huge impact on my mood and overall enjoyment of the situation. If you are chewing loudly, notice yourself and try to be aware of your surroundings. It may not bother you, but for some people, it can be a major inconvenience.
