Getting ready for the day when millions are using Hive
I'm on a business trip at the moment and I got up too early. So why not write a quick Hive post...
We just celebrated the third anniversary of the historic and controversial fork that was the starting point of this great social project called Hive.
For the old generation, like me, that lived through this fork, Hive is probably one of the best places on the internet. Probably also new users are starting to feel at home. I would say that I spend about 80% of my online time on apps that are linked to Hive. It's a place where I live, play games, build relationships and also earn money.
We know how great Hive is and we can't understand why not more people see its amazing potential. Of course onboarding is still a problem and it's difficult to understand all the facets of this chain... but...
Crypto is there to get rich
The big majority of people don't really understand what crypto is apart from an investment vehicle that can make them rich. What is funny is that what these people actually invest in, is the future potential of these coins. In other terms, they invest in what these chains will be able to do in the coming years.
The investment hype is all about how these chains sell their projects and their development. Some of the things that are sold and lead people to invest:
- Let's build a web3.0 social media platform
- Let's build defi
- Let's do decentralisation
- Let's protect free speech
- Let's scale the chain and make faster and cheaper transactions
- Let's run games on the blockchain
- Let's build a community
The roadmaps are there, the progress is slow but hey we believe in it and that's why the prices of these cryptos are pushed up.
These are some of the sales arguments of these chains and people invest into these projects because they want these things to become reality. So in a way, people are buying future use cases of the crypto that they buy. They don't realize that there is a place where all these potential technologies are already applied and used!
All this makes me smile because we have it all on Hive already. It's not only developed but used and battle tested.
What will happen if one day people discover Hive?
So what will happen if one day people realize that all these beautiful plans have already been implemented all in one place? Will they suddenly redirect their investments?
In the end the good stuff survives
I remember when the internet was born, I kind of feel old when I say that... There were all these fancy dot.com businesses that made a lot of promises and their shares went through the roof in spite of the fact that they often didn't have a viable product or a way to generate an income. I feel it's kind of the same for many crypto projects.
Time showed that most of these dot.com businesses disappeared and I believe it will be the same for many cryptos that were selling dreams only. In the long run the project will surface that are working and offering added value to people.
I'm a fan of Hive not because of what it could become but for what is already is. I use it daily and I try to accumulate as many tokens as possible. I believe that one day there will be millions of people using hive because there is nothing comparable out there and we are developing in every direction and it's just a matter of time before it clicks. We saw it with Splinterlands. Not much is necessary to suddenly attract tons of people to hive.

I don't think everyone will see HIVE as beautiful as the plans 🤔. HIVE's build is focused on whales and engaging to make good fortune. Engage is time-consuming and most people prefer to kill time on other social media. But, well... At the last, there must be some people who like HIVE rather than other blockchains. 🤗

Hive attracts a certain kind of person, most get discouraged after a few weeks of posting when they discover their posts don't pay in dollars in their bank account. But those in the know, understand the mechanics of the Blockchain and all the opportunities and potential rewards for the effort!
We should try to look further than at what we have right now. What I see is a blockchain that is using only a small percentage of its true potential. Once more apps come to hive, we will have users that don't even know that hive is also a social media platform!

I am also a fan of Hive because it has potential to have a bunch of those apps that people might want. It also makes it easy to login into apps and I don't have to worry about passwords as much because I have keychain. The only downside of Hive is that it's complicated but I think the applications are the solution for it. If the application is good, people might be willing to learn more about the system.

I believe that every day, people on Hive are working to make it a simpler experience and I think about the time when people do things on hive without realizing it. I'm sure there are plenty of Splinterlands players who still have no clue about the blogging platform that is hive...
hive is really good already, in some countries it can replace/pay more than a full time job (if u put in the work obviosly)
Hive offers plenty of ways to generate an income. For many people it can represent an interesting income source.

I love Hive and also use it daily. It is a chain of blocks with a lot of potential, but I think that its fundamental growth will come from the applications that are launched on it.
I totally agree. The number of people who want to earn blogging is very limited. Once apps use the potential of hive for games and whatever stuff, that's when we will have a huge growth.
Hive is not like most crypto project that come and go, it's a consistent program towards sustainable growth, HP 3%, HBD 20%.
Many people who consider a get-rich-quick are basically do not have a mentality for constant growth, they want to grab whatever chunk of the cake and run away.
There are plenty of project, some has left some are still growing and making their investors happy.
Dedication and good planning can lead you to success but it will not be in an instant success.

Hive is a long term project and it's getting better every day. More and more apps and games are populating the ecosystem and each of them wants to attract people and make the account creating easier. One day people will do plenty of things on hive without realizing it :-)

Totally agree with your post! We are early movers in this space I feel.
It's still pretty early in the game and it's a great moment to fill our bags :-)
The blogging part of HIVE won't be for everyone. Humans are naturally impatient and want to see immediate gains.
Personally I believe that mainstream adoption of HIVE will have to come from the adoption of it's games. Splinterlands is the prime example. One or two more big hit games could be the catalyst needed to spark HIVE into an exponential growth phase. Crowds naturally bring even bigger crowds.
Will that ever happen? Who knows? 🤣 I certainly do hope so though. !PIZZA
I see it exactly like that. Blogging caters for a very limited population but already now there are plenty of different ways to use the platform. Games and apps will do their work to attract as many people as possible, making account creation easier and make sure that we will reach an exponential growth over time. It may tike a while though :-)
The way we've seen a lot of new things come up over the course of the last three years and that's why people's interest has gotten so much higher and the way we know we're good at working with it. Money can come in handy as the user base will be huge once it becomes popular worldwide.
The more people on hive, the more apps will be interested in plugging into it. Since the platform offers so many possibilities, it's just a matter of time I believe.
