There are a thousand and one ways to D!E.

I have always wished I could have the chance to know the kind of driver that would be taking us on a journey. But you can only know that maybe when the bus is full or when the vehicle has kicked off.

Even if you know the driver that is going to power the steering, is it possible to know his personality? You can't even guess his driving skills. When the bus or car is in motion then you know who you are dealing with.

Though there are some obvious situations when you see the appearance of your driver at times the way he speaks and through their actions too. You know if you are going to have a nice trip or not.

My near-death experience.

It was a day when I was traveling to Kwara state. But I couldn’t meet up with the direct bus going to the state, so I was a bit late. So I had to take another bus but I had to get to Ibadan first then board another bus from there down to Kwara.

I love sitting in the front seat or by the window side. This time around the bus was filled up and I was the last person to fill up the seats. The only seat left was the seat beside the diver. The bus has three seats in the front. The driver on the left, and two other passengers on the right.

I sat, paid my transportation fare, and was expecting us to start the journey. But instead, they had to start looking for the driver for minutes. It took up to 15 minutes before the driver arrived.

Upon arrival, just by merely looking at his face and character I knew we were in serious trouble. The way he hopped to the front of the bus sprinkled water on the windscreen, and opened up the door, then jumped on the seat shaking the whole bus. I smiled and nodded my head. What a crazy fellow.

He started by accelerating the bus so he jacked off. I almost hit myself on the dashboard in front of me. Crazy!

He started driving. His driving was cool in the beginning, but I don't know what went in his head. All of a sudden the driving pattern changed. The way he used the brakes was just out of it. It got to an extent everyone on the bus started praying.

An old woman from the back seat addressed him to drive carefully, but instead, he took it up on her and abused her. Another man from the back lamented, but he fired all of them. Some passengers asked to drop and get refunded. He said he couldn’t refund anyone.

While we were almost at Ibadan after all of the rough drive, we got to face an unexpected lorry trying to enter the lane. With the speed our driver was driving, he trusted the brakes so much but when he pedaled the brakes the vehicle didn’t stop. He kept adding pressure on it, but nothing happened.

This was the moment I saw death right in front of my eyes. I already set my mind off. Everyone in the vehicle was scared and screaming but I had to hold my faith. He was about to hit the lorry before he saw a filling station behind and there was a free space. He swung the steering to that side, a lady was standing not even expecting a vehicle to her side.

He steered away from her again and landed us in a pit. The pit was responsible for stopping the vehicle. That was when everyone realized we were safe. Everyone on the bus that day alighted at that junction and found their way. But I still followed him down to the last bus stop with no brakes. 😂

I can just imagine the amount of screams and prayers during that moment. Followed by the insults on the driver after everyone got down safely.😂😂

Some drivers are really really crazy. May God protect us all.

Damn, what a very crazy experience. Brake failure is one of the major causes of accidents on the road, but you guys were lucky that you came out from that experience without a scratch. I just hope the driver learned his lessons after that

I don’t think this one would learn any lesson. It happen that he wasn’t even the owner of the vehicle. Imagine two drivers sharing a vehicle

You are very stubborn too... Why did you follow the driver to your destination when you could have followed other passengers? 🤣
You see, for a journey to become smooth, it depends on the driver´s mood, though it is God who helps the driver too, the personality will determine if he is okay or not. Some drivers are stone-hearted fellows and do not care about their passengers. Thank God you got to Ibadan safe and that woman standing too not knowing a bus was coming, God saved her.

Who will die will die. Even if they run miles away 😂. Let just keep praying for safety. What of the lady that was standing on her own and not knowing something was probably going to happen to her

It's completely understandable to feel frustrated when encountering a reckless driver. Your safety should always be the priority, so it's wise to remove yourself from such situations if possible. It's essential to stay calm and take appropriate action to ensure your well-being.

Yeah. That really a worthy advice. Now I don’t just take any bus or any cab. I take them form reliable bus garages.

Wow, I've been through a situation like that before, and I can confirm that it's really scary!

For real. Especially sitting at the front seat. The most dangerous place.
