y2k movies for when you don't wanna get out of bed

This is a list of nostalgic movies from the year of 2000s, the y2k era, our nostalgic renascence, movies in which despite the silliness and sometimes shitty stories never fail to enchant us with tokens of their time.

It would be illegal to not start with Legally Blond am i right? I think we all know this one but let's give some mention: Dear Elle Woods, she is the queen of fashion of her sisterhood, she's also been left by her boyfriend for someone who appears to be a smart chick. He didn't want to show Elle as his girl cause she looks like a bimbo. But that doesn't matter to her, our girl is competent as fuck and is determined to look smart enough to show him! by joining Harvard's law school with her own intelligence! I mean, plausible right ? as if it's hard, puff- anyway, while being there, she realizes there's much more in life than being someone's cutie. - Perhaps murder cases, who knows? . As you can see this high quality comedy and satire with nice touches of romance comedy. Come on board now cause our ship is sailling!

And what about The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants where four best friends make a plan to stay connected when their lives start going in different directions, so they pack a pair of worn out jeans that adjusts perfectly to each one of their bodies, as if by some miracle. Wearing that brings them some comfort when alone. In any case, it's a comedy family friendly movie from 2005, it has that good old aesthetic for us nostalgic assholes. Anyway.

And what can i even say about Van Helsing? It's a 2004s classic starred by Hugh Jackman, Kate Beckinsale and Richard Roxburgh. It has amazing special effects for it's time and i dare say even better than nowdays where everything seems like crappy or generic cgi. In the movie Van Helsing is a notorious monster hunter sent to Transilvania to defeat count Dracula who is doing some really bad usage of Doctor Frankenstein's research and a werewolf. As you can see there are plenty of creatures from classic tales, we even have mister Hyde making appearances. Everything in this movie is either scary, disgusting or enchanting. I love it. It's a horror fantasy action movie. Enjoy it.

A special addition for my child heart would be Aquamarine. I loved that movie like a crack addict, watched it for at least 40 times as a kid. It's a movie about mermaids, love and friendship. Where two friends happen to find a mermaid who escaped from home due an unwanted marriage setting that her father put her up to. She said she would prove to him what true love is before the ocean comes to bring her back home. And if the girls help her in that, she shall grant them a wish. With the girls own problems and teen drama going on as well, the movie ends up being super cheerful, fun and delightful. Sometimes sad too. But HEY its a comedy! very family friendly and i'm not lying again. Trust me, i'm a starfish on this. And as Aquamarine would say: Starfish may be huge suck ups. But they never lie.
