In the last weeks, my youtube channel collapsed. My Click through rate dropped and I had very few views in general. I was looking at the analytics and didn't really understand what was happening. Where my videos so bad? Where my thumbnails so unattractive? The click-through-rate dropped below 1% and I didn't get why...
I decided to take another approach. I wanted to make my account more visible and understandable. For this reason, I used tools like Notebook LM and Gemini and pulled all the data from my Youtube account. My idea was to generate a physical map that represents my account in detail. The topics are the mountains in the map, the rivers are the sub topics and the bodies of water are the audiences.
Once I started to compare my map with maps of other successful youtube creators, I started to understand the issue. I have managed to confuse the algorithm completely.
My videos are maybe not that bad. My mistake was to confuse the algorithm...
I've decided to avoid starting from scratch and I want to try to rebuild my youtube account by first defining the problem, then figuring out a strategy and then implementing it.
This is the second video of the series. You can watch the whole playlist here
I will share this process on youtube and here on hive. If you are interested, I invite you to follow along.

Seeing the number of views from your first video of this series, it looks like it works... 🙂
Btw. nice touch making those maps looking as maps... 😃
It's nice to see the views for the first video coming in.
Things are clearer now, even for me :)
Did I subscribe to your channel?
I just saw that you have subscribed. Thanks a lot :-)
That makes sense. I remember all the Youtubers that I watch make separate channels for different topics. They didn't try to mix and match all those topics.
Exactly, now I understand their reason for doing so as well and from algorithm perspective it makes sense.
AI is pretty good at looking in whether a plan has issues, or at least give you a second opinion. I find that having AI draw up a quick report for me on the various companies whose stock I want to buy gives quite a few surprising insights.
While just watching at the numbers, I didn't see what the problem really was. From the numbers, I could simple deduct that my thumbnail were bad and that nobody wanted to click them. The map gave me a totally different perspective and it's great to be able to use such tools for visualization.
