Interview with @josieb

Hello everyone!! 👻👻👻

This is the sixth interview I have done, and perhaps with the person with whom I have felt the most connection. The two of us have finally managed to build a family even though our path has been difficult, we have suffered a lot of stress in the past because of our jobs, and we firmly believe in being able to develop in the fabulous #play2earn world of Splinterlands as players and as content creators.

The best way to introduce @josieb would be her lovely self-introduction post that she wrote when she jumped into the #Hive and #Splinterlands family. It's incredible how a game can be the link to set a connection between lives separated by thousands of kilometers that have passed along a similar path. This interview has convinced me to write a self one! As a resume, I would say that she has moved to Texas, although she considers herself a citizen of the world, she chose nursery as a career but it did not fit with her family plans. Now her WHY she jumped into Splinterlands was how she and her husband feel attracted into this #playtoearn world. Also, she is trying to buy her husband quality time to pass with their family through the incomes generated by content creation. Hey Josie, tell me a little bit about your game origins... What has brought you to Splinterlands?

I used to game a LONG LONG time ago, and had always loved it BUT spent way too much time playing - games styles like Final Fantasy
I was never really interested in Crypto or NFTs / Play2Earn games until my husband stumbled on Splinterlands
He was obsessed with Magic the Gathering and found Splinterlands as a "replacement" when we had baby Levi because I told him he couldn't spend so much time playing games 🤣 🤣
He started watching a bunch of videos by Splinterlands Content Creators (Bulldog, Infidel, Aftersounds, Luke) and encouraged me to look into the game and work on content creation for it!
So I have a YouTube channel focused on motherhood, and then this other one on crypto gaming (JosiePlaysCrypto)
I started to enjoy the game and all the different aspects of it - sooooooooo with the little free time I have, I play some, but also my goal is to release 1 video a week
I haven't been too active on Discord, BUT was just accepted into the Maverick channel, so I'm trying to get more active and have my name known!

Wow I played Magic the Gathering also and was one of the reasons that made me jump into this fabulous world!!! And my wife is also telling me to spend less time gaming and more with family. But I guess there's always time for everything in life... Were u accepted on the Maverick channel? How did you do it?

If you've bought 1000 packs of chaos legion cards or more, you can get accepted into the Maverick channel! I splurged and bought 1800 packs when the general sale was release haha

So most of your experience is with the CL released isn't it? How much CP have u accumulated?

Yes! I started in early December, so pretty late compared to some of the OG players!
Hmmm that CP accumulated is a hard question! My husband and I both play and kind of share the accounts. We have around 60K CP between the two of us, buuuuuuuut I also haven't opened 1700+ packs of CL! Taking a lot of self-control not too haha

I won't open a single pack until legendary summoners are revealed, and this I would suggest to everyone. A legendary summoner gold foil is a 1k$ NFT in 2 years when the sale is released. I wouldn't waste that lottery ticket. Even with 1 pack.

THAT'S MY HOPE TOO! I honestly wished they had released the legendary summoners FIRST

I guess that devs are playing a kind of crescendo with all of us, can't wait till the day they are revealed. The especially blue one, as Kely is my best summoner. That would mean an all-in to all blue CL cards for me! And with 1800 packs you've got some guaranteed legendary airdrops! I wish you all the best with gold foils drops. As a recent player of the game tell me a bit about how has been your game learning process and what do you like most about the game

The game learning process has been tough, but as I mentioned before, my husband started the game and has been guiding me through it! I consistently end the season at the Silver level but want to ultimately reach gold and beyond. I think when I decide to open the chaos legion packs i bought, I'll be able to get there!! 🔥 🔥
The hardest part of the learning process was understanding what all the cards are and did. Not only the monsters, but the summoners were confusing too! AND right as I was starting to get the hang of things, they released Chaos Legion and a whole new set of ghost cards, which reset my learning curve
As for loving the game - gosh, there are so many things
I love the town halls and how the developers/team are so transparent and involved with the community. That tells me that they are in it for the long run.
I love the gameplay of splinterlands - it's simple if you want it to be simple, but also requires a ton of strategy and thought if you go into the more advanced leagues. I feel like I am always learning when I watch the battles where I lose. I learn new ways to use old cards!
I also love the NFT / crypto aspect of the game. It makes me feel like I'm working on my investment portfolio rather than "just playing a game". I've put enough money into the game to count it as an investment. Not sure if you were expecting me to say so much!!!! But those are my top three "loves" for Splinterlands 😄

Would you mind sharing some battles of your best summoners right now?

Yes of course! First of all, I will share a couple of bottles of my best summoner Kelya! I love the Shark / Squid / Lurker in the first three positions with a River Hellondale + Wavesmith. Take a look at how Hellondale buys time for my army to lead to victory. Also, take a look at epic Sharks' evasions. And here there's another one with high magic output based on what my opponent has played. Water has a lot of resources of high damage and living creatures that lead your army towards victory.

And for Obsidian I bring an epic victory winning the Llama and Kron combo. I am very proud of this battle. The opponent would have thought that he would pick an easy victory, but I managed to surprise him! Chaos Legion is bringing us, the new players, resources to win much higher budget armies. At the beginning of the battle, I thought everything was lost, but as I saw the impact of the battle conditions (Fallen Summoner with 10 life reflecting damage, and a lot of damage incoming from my army because of +1 Magic Obsidian...) things went much better than I thought!

Thank you for this epic battle! And which are ur best summoners in modern? And by cards? Ur best common, rare, epic, and legendary?

I only started playing in Dec of 2021, so I'm 100% a modern-only player. I literally cannot wait until the Modern format comes out. I feel like I'll be able to get a lot further instead of encountering some CRAZY good cards from alpha/beta
My best / favorite cards? Common: DeepLurker FOR SURE. Rare: Tianyi Striker for Fire Splinter -- For Water Splinter = Venari Wavesmith -- For Earth Splinter = Regal Peryton. Epic: Axemaster is my favorite because it's one of my first ever owned/purchased cards -- I'm also loving GRUND. Legendary: Queen Mycelia or Spirit Hoarder -- I love playing with both!

Josie, this interview is reaching the end,.. could you tell me your plans for the next months?

Future Projects in Content Creation: I have two active channels - one on Play2Earn / CryptoGaming and the other is on Motherhood! Where I want to go specifically with the Play2Earn / CryptoGaming one is three-fold: 1) Create content that discusses investing + crypto gaming as one - seeing the game as an investment in addition to its gaming aspects. 2) Create beginner's guides so that newcomers to the game can easily watch the videos and get a good head start on how the game(s) work. 3) Start streaming content! Once I get comfortable enough, I want to interact with my viewers and be able to have conversations!
