Analysing Splinterlands Cards โ€“ Cursed Slimeball

Hi all,

Introduction

Another post in this series. Thank you for your support in the previous posts ๐Ÿ˜Š

This series intends to determine if there are other aspects of cards that may contribute to increasing its value. Based on your feedback I can focus on more/other things โ€“ so feel free to tell me where you want me to go into further detail.
I include some analysis on where the cards fit in terms of gameplay, strategy, comparison with other cards, and a market analysis of its price. Feel free to suggest what more do you want me to look into in this series, and your support is much appreciated!
In this edition I will be looking at the Cursed Slimeball.

Gameplay Analysis

Cursed Slimeball is a Common Death Monster from the Untamed set in Splinterlands. As a low-mana disposable unit, it is primarily used in sacrificial strategies, with its main strength being disrupting opponents when it dies.

Mana Cost: 1
Attack Type: None (Support Unit)
Abilities by Level
Level 6: Redemption (Upon death, deals 1 damage to all enemy Monsters)

Level-Based Insights

Level 1-5: Functions as a basic sacrificial unit without abilities. Mostly used as a cheap filler or to absorb Sneak, Opportunity, or Blast damage.
Level 6+: Gains Redemption, making it significantly stronger as a self-sacrificing unit that punishes enemy teams when it dies. The AoE damage is particularly useful against low-health enemy teams or to break armor.

Comparative Analysis

How does this card compare to other similar ones?

Vs. Corpse Fiend: Corpse Fiend is a 0-mana meat shield, but Cursed Slimeball provides offensive value with Redemption.
Vs. Shadowy Presence: Shadowy Presence grants +1 Health to allies, but Slimeball deals AoE damage upon death, making it more useful for aggressive or disruptive strategies.
Vs. Furious Chicken: Furious Chicken is a free unit, but Slimeball makes an impact when it dies.

Key Takeaway
Cursed Slimeball is a cheap, disposable unit best used in sacrificial strategies. Once it reaches Level 6, Redemption makes it an effective tool for softening enemy teams.

Synergies

Astral Entity (Death Summoner): Can Resurrect Cursed Slimeball, allowing Redemption to trigger twice.
Weaken (e.g., Undead Priest, Silent Sha-Vi): Lowers enemy Health, making Redemption more impactful.
Riftwing: Gains extra Health when allies die, making it a strong synergy with Slimeball.
Exploding Rats: Another Redemption unit, allowing for double death damage.

Ruleset Performance

Favorable Rulesets:
Noxious Fumes: Slimeball dies quickly, ensuring Redemption triggers early, weakening enemies.
Equal Opportunity: Guarantees an early death, maximizing its impact.
Explosive Weaponry: Stacks Redemption with Blast, dealing additional spread-out damage.

Challenging Rulesets:
No Abilities: Removes Redemption, making it useless.
Healed Out: If the enemy relies on high Health instead of healing, Redemptionโ€™s damage is less impactful.

Market Analysis

Price Overview
Regular Foil: around $ 0.035
Gold Foil: around $ 1.5

Investment Potential
Cursed Slimeball is a cheap but effective unit, particularly at Level 6+ when it gains Redemption. It is best suited for aggressive, sacrificial, or poison-heavy strategies, making it a solid investment for Death players.

Ratings

Usefulness: 7/10 (Weak at low levels, but Redemption makes it disruptive)
Cost-Effectiveness: 8/10 (Affordable, but only useful when upgraded)
Versatility: 6/10 (Best in death-focused teams and self-sacrificing strategies)

Conclusion

Cursed Slimeball is a low-mana disruptive unit that shines once it reaches Level 6 and gains Redemption. It is ideal for sacrificial Death teams, helping weaken enemy forces upon death. A great budget pick for players who like AoE-based or poison-heavy strategies.
