Survival Mode Review and Suggestions
Finally we will have new mode, hope it comes as soon as possible and new ones comes as well, new modes is something the game need for a very long time and this one will also help with the biggest problem Splinterlands have: the oversaturated card market.
In Survival Mode there is no need for energy but your cards that die in battle will remain death for a minimum of 2 days, limiting your battles based on the amount of cards you have.
Controversial subjects
Some points has not been received well for a lot of players like:
- Use of battle helpers and automation tools will be allowed.
- Cards cooldown affects all modes.
I am very happy with this mode because the Splinterlands team is finally addressing the biggest problem the game have:
The oversaturated card market: let me do a small resume of why is the biggest problem:
There is so many cards that lots of maxed out cards can be rented for 0.1 DEC the minimum possible, this allow anyone to rented maxed out Decks and compete in higher ranges earning big amounts of SPS per battle, the SPS can´t increase too much on value while anyone could just come rent 10-20 cards for around 5-10 DEC(less than $0.01) and star earning big amounts of SPS per battle, DEC will also have a hard time increasing in Value when ever it increases in value the cheapest cards in the market price will be lower than their burn value, this cards be buy and burned for DEC and selling the DEC making the DEC price reduce, basically the cards problem will drag everything down until is fixed.
There may be better ways to fixed it like a great burn event, but at least survival mode will help a lot with the problem.
I see this new mode as a solution for the cards problem that the game needed for a very long time.
- Cards cooldown in all modes will be beneficial for the rental market. Lets just hope that the Revival Potion is not extremely cheap, as it can set the minimum rental price.
- Players may not play so much this mode so bots could help renting cards and using them in this mode until is not profitable anymore, increasing the rental price by a lot more than the players could do.
What I don´t understand is allowing the Battle helper, they are basically telling me that I will be in a big disadvantage by not using it. Not sure if is possible or not allowing bots but not allowing Battle helpers for human players.
A big Problem with Survival Mode
The real problem I can see happen with this new mode and hope is fixed before is released are the level 1 soul bound rewards
I have 159 BCX of this summoner for example, don´t remember if I has burn some of these or sell and I didn´t played as much as I could, a bot definitely played as much as they could, they should have a lot more than 159 BCX per summon and there are 6 summoners plus some golden ones, there may be lots of farm bots that just left the cards on level 1, lets say they have just 200 BCX per summoner, means 1200 summoners, each bot will play at least 1200 battles every 12.5 days for Free, extracting the value of SPS pool and reducing the SPS rewards for everyone, this is bots only bonus as humans will have to spend their whole day if they want to play that amount of battles, no idea of how many bots with Soul bound rewards cards are there but they will not just be on the lowest place earning very small amount, they will inflate their rating with each other as everyone are running level 1 stuff, increasing their rating an extracting higher value everyday.
Solution:
Unlocked Souldbound Rewards cards should need certain level to be allowed to be played on survival mode, maybe maxed out for Gold league or Silver.
An easy change like this will fix lots of future troubles, bots will only play 2 or 3 games for free them they will have to rent cards and helping the ecosystem by doing that.
Suggestions:
Lets hope this mode release as soon as possible, should have the highest priority and lets hope it fix the card problem or at least help a lot, if is not fixed after some time , a Great burn event should fix it, give the highest priority to it as solving the cards problem always should have.
Don´t make the revival potion extremely cheap otherwise rental cards will keep been extremely cheap as well.
If is possible disable the Battle Helper for humans in any mode, bots may help on this mode to the ecosystem but Battle Helpers does not do anything for anyone only give a disadvantage to few that refuse to use them.
