SplinterGuide Update: Rebellion Ratings & More | Splinterlands

After a lot of work studying the new Rebellion cards and revising the SplinterGuide ratings algorithm, I'm happy to share the first version of our new ratings. Visit SplinterGuide for all the ratings, interactive tables, and more: https://splinterguide.com/list/monsters.

In addition to tuning the algorithm for Rebellion cards, I've made a number of other changes I think you'll enjoy. Here's a list of changes, including some key updates to the rating algorithm:

  • Added the ability to filter by Edition on the Monsters, Summoners, and Market pages
  • Added all new abilities and cards data
  • Added new ruleset/ability synergies for the Rebellion abilities
  • Ratings updates:
-- Reduced Bronze/Silver/Gold rating inflation multiplier by ~5-10% (this was to correct for there being too much inflation in those leagues from the existing algorithm)
-- Reduced impact of abilities on final score by ~10% (to correct for over-inflation of abilities on score)
-- Reduced score impact of synergistic abilities (~25%)
-- Added ~15 new synergistic abilities, focusing on new abilities
-- Added +0.2 mana score for units with <=4 mana and -0.4 mana score for units with >=10 mana
-- Changed score modifier for 2-attack types units from +1 to +1.5
-- Changed score modifier for no-attack units from 0 to +1
-- Added meta adjustment multipliers for ability scores for the following abilities: Armored Strike (x1.4), Weapons Training (x1.6), and Ambush (x1.4)
-- Reduced ability multiplier of Heal/Tank Heal/Triage/Cleanse from x1.25 to x1.2 (Healing units for getting overly high scores due to these multipliers, particularly as they stacked as many healers have >1 of these abilities)
-- Added a "negative synergy" (e.g. for scattershot + fury) which reduces score by 0.5
-- Updated meta adjustments between -0.75 to +2.5: Ulundin Overseer, Mantaroth, Drybone Raider, Rush Townsend, Chaos Golem, Daarg Deadblast, Captain Fellblade, Anasth Soothsayer, Pirate of Eight, Moxian Rebel, Meriput Magician, Doctor Blight, Grimbardun Smith, Zyriel, Immolation, Torch Vizier, Commander Goff, Bera Dallin, Wailing Wraith, Barashkukor, Sea Wreck, Chaos Agent, Dark Ha'on
    -- Updated stat multipliers: Attack (1.8->1.7), Ranged (1.8->1.7), Magic (2.25->2.15), Speed (3.5->3.25), Health (1.25->1), Armor (1.25->1.3)

We would love to get feedback on the scores, particularly for Rebellion. Please check these out by going to the Monsters and Summoners pages, filtering by the Rebellion edition, and having a look.

Here's a snapshot of the top & bottom monsters, and ratings for the summoners.

I would love to get your feedback on the ratings. Since this is the first version, there are bound to be some modifications needed to tweak the algorithm. Also, while I've played with all the cards at the Diamond level, it's only been 1 week, so I'm likely to have missed some things. Thanks in advance for your feedback!

Also remember you can use our market page to spot interesting data including things like Gold Foil deals, simply by filters on the GF:RF value column to find cases where it's cheaper to max a GF than a RF (GF:RF < 1). That's currently the case for 4 cards in Rebellion!

You did a great job updating the data algorithms and rating the new cards. Excellent work mate! Yours is one of my favorite sites in the whole Splinterverse.

After taking a closer look at the Rebellion ratings, I was surprised to see the death 2mana common ahead of all the other no-attack 2mana commons. At diamond league, I think the life, water, and fire ones are better than the death one. In fact, I think the death one might just be the weakest of the cycle.

Maybe weapons training is really that powerful now, but it seems like so many of the top cards in Rebellion either have weapons training or no attack based on your new algorithm. That's something to keep an eye on as things develop. I was also surprised to see the 3mana common summoners ahead of all the rare summoners besides Avina.

Good feedback, thanks @ducecrypto !

On the 2 mana commons that's an interesting point. It looks like the speed and 1 armor both contribute to the death one exceeding the others. Maybe I'm overweighting some of those attributes.

Agree on the weapons training and no-attack point, it's possible this version of the algo is overdoing it in which case I'll finetune it over time. I will say for the time being that I am heavily using WT, but that may also be because it's really fun 🤣

For what it's worth, the summoner ratings aren't algorithmic - only the Monster ratings are. So those summoner ratings are just my opinions, haha... maybe I'm wrong on those

Thanks again for your feedback!

This is helpful. The common summoners are beasts at the bronze level. Also, the weapon training combos people come up with are a force to reckon with.
