Good afternoon buzzers, I feel like I've just published a post! (Oh look, here it is!) Now that's some procrastination!
Speaking of, I've been putting off diving into the tech side, mostly because I'm a total noob when it comes to all the ins and outs, 1s and 2s, wait, it's 0s and 1s, right, of, well, most tech things! Task me with managing a community and I'm your sloth! Ask me how to access a website, and well, ask AI or something! Turn it off and on again is about the best tech advice you'll ever get from me!
However, it seems my 'tech bros' have let me down the Sloth.Buzz site is...dead? It's supposed to be run via Hive-Engine tribe thingy...seems it's not though...So...I have to host it myself, I guess? Simple, right? Get some hosting servers and away we go...but how do I get content there? Even if it's just the basic outpost set up, which is currently on most 'tribe' pages? That's the thing I need to work out...any suggestions?
Whilst we're at it... Hive-engine and Hive witness nodes... What's the 'easiest' way to go about obtaining them for a tech noob? Should I even attempt it? Is it worth it? I want to support the Hive ecosystem development, and the tiny little trickle of Hive would help boost the community accounts here, and it seems like a good way to 'DCA' into Hive? Spend some $$ on servers and community building, earn some Hive for the efforts and help grow both sides?
Now is where the tech bros tell me I'm crazy and a noob shouldn't be running witness nodes! So, just set me on the path to hosting my site and I'll be on my way! Maybe!
Anyways, on with the savings! Because that's what I do on Hive, slothly but surely add to my Hive bag! I mean, my KE rating is 0.28. SlothBuzz, the primary community account, is 0.22! The curator account is 0.05!!! CRAZY!!! So...How do we further help build Hive up?
Savings.... sloth and steady wins the race, right? I'm not the biggest fish on Hive, heck, I'm still flailing around in the tiddlers' pond. However, I see potential, and over the last few years, I've been giving Hive my all, except when I'm procrastinating.
Starting Balance:
Week 1:
HP: 7665 (2335 Needed)
SlothBuzz: 141 (59 Needed)
Last week's update:
Week 27
HP: 8,289 (1711 needed / 27% achieved - 73% remaining)
SlothBuzz 190 (10 needed/ 84% achieved - 16% remaining)
Today's Update:
Week 28
HP: 8,293 (1707 needed / 27% achieved - 73% remaining)
SlothBuzz 190 (10 needed/ 84% achieved - 16% remaining)
Not much of a change from my last update, but I'm continuing to add to my Hive holding and build a strong base for Sloth.Buzz! Who knows, one day the token might even be worth having! It can't hurt to use the #slothbuzz tag and earn it for free anyway!
Until next time,
Sloth out!
Hi @slothlydoesit, maybe @ecoinstant or @thecrazygm could help you here. They are doing stuff to/on hive-engine plus they have a tool for building your website, I believe.
Ah awesome! Last time I had a little buzz in me I saw ecoinstant was doing a lot of new things, I'll need to check back with him. Thanks for the suggestion.
Great post! There are a lot of questions in there! I use digital ocean droplets for all my hosting needs - and its far from the only one but I like it and its "pretty simple".
If you choose to go this route, just take it step by step (and thus specific question by specific question).
In my opinion, the hive-engine model of "pay once, everything magically works forever", is tricky when it comes to websites. You can for sure get it working again "for free", if you spend enough time and energy finding and poking the right dude.
If you are lucky, your site "broke" because of some unrelated issue and other things are also broken, so someone else pokes, and one day yours magically works again.
