Yeah. They're wedding rings. Mine and my wife's. March 30th will be 18 years since I got married. For the first time. I don't see why I should ever do it again.

I married late, I was 40 years old. My father got married when he was 23. But it's just a different time.

You know the symbolism of the ring. The Olympian gods punished the titan Prometheus for giving fire to the people. He was to be chained to a rock forever and an eagle was to peck at his liver every day.

Herakles freed Prometheus. But the command of the gods cannot simply be undone. Prometheus had to remain chained to the rock. Even if the chaining was only symbolic. The rock was a ring with a stone. And people began to wear rings with stones in Prometheus' memory.

It's not usual with wedding rings, but my wife also wanted a stone on her ring. I had a small 1.25 carat diamond set in her ring.

I didn't weigh the rings. Wasn't there a reason? It's not investment gold to me. But it's "white gold" 750 / 1000 (250 palladium/750 gold).

For comparison. These are my parents' wedding rings. They're both deceased. They were married in 1966. It's classic gold, 585 /1000. That's 585 parts gold and 415 parts copper.

Ano. Jsou to snubní prsteny. Můj a mé choti. 30. března to bude 18 let, co jsem se oženil. Poprvé. Doufám, že naposled. Nevidím důvod, proč bych se svou ženou rozcházel.

Ženil jsem se pozdě, bylo mi 40 let. Můj otec se oženil, když mu bylo 23 let. Ale je to prostě jiná doba.

Znáte symboliku prstenu. Olympští bohové potrestali titána Prométhea za to, že dal lidem oheň. Měl být navždy přikován ke skále a orel mu měl každý den klovat játra.

Hérakles osvobodil Prométhea. Příkaz bohů však nelze jednoduše zrušit. Prométheus musel zůstat připoutaný ke skále. I když to připoutání bylo jen symbolické. Skálu a pouta představoval prsten s kamenem. A lidé začali na Prométheovu památku nosit prsteny s kameny.

U snubních prstenů to není obvyklé, ale moje žena chtěla na prstenu také kámen. Nechal jsem jí tedy do prstenu zasadit malý, 1, 25 karátový briliant.

Prsteny jsem nevážil. Proč taky? Není to pro mě investiční zlato. Ale je to "bílé zlato" 750 /1000 (75% zlata, 25% palladia).
