I think ultimately, family is part of everyone.
You can barely separate a person from their family.
It's will always be important that your partner's family likes and accepts you. I feel like it adds to an enjoyable and long lasting marriage

I agree it does! In fact, it would be a blind decision to start a union where the immediate family members of your partner dislike you. It's a recipe for disaster.
