If you became a parent today, what practical steps would you take to raise children who will feel safe and comfortable sharing their fears, regrets, failures, and secrets with you? Do you also believe secrecy is simply a natural part of growing up, and thus, you consider it a waste of time to talk your children into having an open communication with you?
Answer
As a parent, I would create an environment where children don't feel judged, but rather taught. I would ensure I make myself a friend to them through conversation and stories.
While some parents may be strict, I would give them some freedom to learn for themselves. Secrecy in a child is dangerous, and that's why I would make the home a safe place for them where everything is discussed, no matter how unusual it seems.
