I tell people when you are going into marriage of any relationship.

Just pray that God should give you someone that understands you and is ready to adjust where need be and also love you.
Because no particular formula is suitable for any relationship.

Some people cohabit fie years and still end up divorcing after few years of marriage. And i have seen people who met and get married in less than a month and they are still together till date.

Cohabiting works , because you get to know and understand the person, but it's not a guarantee for a successful and romantic relationship.

In sum we should just pray that everything works for us.
