Hi Everyone.
Continuing with #threetunetuesday posts.
Seasons have changed.
I got better from the seasonal flu and as energy is slowly coming back, so is the desire to hear some rocking beats. :)
I saw an awesome documentary about old legends, band The Police and while watching it I was reminded of how cool and special are three-piece bands, when they really click together.
Possibly the hardest and rockiest of all possible music formations. Especially live.
If you are soloists or part of the duet, expectations of the audience are naturally adjusted to it and it is not that hard to click and bring the necessary dynamics..
Four or more in the band are kind of standard, but three piece bands are where all of the fun and rocking truly begins.
Drums, Bass Guitar, Guitar ( and one of them doing vocals, or all of them doing vocals )
Right from the start it creates situation where unit functioning as three, have to compete with those who are made of four, five or even more musicians, and who are in the majority.
As it is much easier with each member to add to the overal sound.
On top of it audience expects hearing from three people whole lot more action then when it is case with duo or soloist.
Tough place to be and when it clicks...it is magical. It stands out.
The Police - Roxanne - Live in Rio
Motörhead - Ace Of Spades
Muse - Plug In Baby
I hope you enjoyed reading and listening. Best Regards!
It's a pure form of rock that demands a lot from the players to create a full sound. I know Muse use an extra keyboard player at their shows and you can see him there. He was more tucked away when I saw them a few years back. Motorhead have had two guitarists at times, but Lemmy played the bass like a guitar.
Rock on!
!BEER
Yeah, power trios have always something more that it's hard to explain. Logically they shouldn't, yet they really do.
If you'd like to make a round 2 I can suggest: Rush, Cream and - for something newer - Danko Jones 🤘🏻
