Blowing against the wind, Paige.

Sometimes life is hard and it doesn't make things easy for us from the start. Well, that was just the case for Paige. She was born in a small town on the outskirts of the city so she wasn't born with many opportunities. And it was even harder because of one of the hobbies she had at the time. You see, when she was very little, she received a clarinet from her great-great-grandfather. That clarinet was a gift after her 5th birthday. At that time, she didn't even know what it was for, but later in her life, this gift would change everything she was and would be in the future. But as I told you, her beginning was not easy at all. At 7 years old, she began to become more and more interested in the clarinet that had been given to her some time ago.

She began to practice with him more and more often. Of course, there was no music, only noise, but it was a start. She wanted to learn to play but she didn't know how to do it, and there was no one in her family who could teach her. The only one who could give her some lessons was her great-great-grandfather, but he was already very old so he couldn't play anymore. What he did was give her a book to learn how to play. With this book, it was a big step forward because it had a lot more content to learn. That's how she spent her adolescence. She helped her parents with the housework and even helped her mother sell rice in the market. But of course she always left her time to continue learning to play the clarinet.

Then, when she began to enter adulthood, she began to see the clarinet in a different way. It was no longer a hobby, it had become her passion and that created a very big change in her way of seeing things. She realized that in that town there were no opportunities for someone who wanted to seriously dedicate themselves to music. She was told from time to time that music was not a good way to make a living and that her dreams of becoming a professional clarinetist were strange. The truth is that the people of the town did not have much musical culture so they were not interested in her, and they transmitted this vibe to Paige. Even swimming against the current, she had already decided that what she wanted to do with her life was to dedicate herself to playing the clarinet and she was not willing to lose that goal for anyone.

That's why she set the goal of saving as much as she could to move temporarily to the city. She wanted to rent an apartment that wasn't too expensive. Her goal was to be able to study music more professionally in a good school. And maybe once she had more knowledge, she could make a living from music and the clarinet, which in practical terms would be a dream come true. Although achieving it would not be as easy as she imagined. You'll see, once she saved enough and rented an apartment in the city. When she arrived, she noticed that everything was different from her way of life. And this is normal for people accustomed to living in a rural area. But for her, for some reason, the culture shock was greater. So it was hard for her to adapt for the first few days.

In the city there was a public school that charged low fees for offering a quality course to prepare musicians. So with the savings she had and the little help her parents sent her, she was able to enroll. The first part of her goal had already been accomplished, now she needed to learn enough to one day be able to make a living from her music. She spent the next 2 years in that public school learning. In those 2 years, as you can imagine, everything happened. She played badly, then she got better and now she is very well prepared. All this sounds easy but it was very difficult, especially financially speaking. She had to go through many hardships to be able to live in the city these years. Her parents supported her all this time so that she could study, because they really wanted her to succeed in her life.

So she had to work hard to fulfill her own dream and to honor all the effort her parents had made to get her to where she is today. When she left music school she spent the next few months playing for the band of a small theater. But she earned very little. But at one of her theater performances an orchestra director was present and saw her talent and liked her a lot. So he thought she would be an excellent addition to his orchestra that was in need of a good clarinetist. When the performance was over he encouraged her to leave her current job and join them.

She couldn't believe it so she accepted. In this new position she earned much more so her dream of making a living from music finally came true. She could start making a living from music and most importantly bring her parents to live with her. The dream came true.
