Trees and Wood

(edited)

Trees are such a nice photography subject! There are so many interesting species.
I have photographed quite a lot of them in my life, so I dug into my photo archive.
It was hard to choose the best one that I want to submit for the Qurator's Photo Quest, but I decided it would be the following.
These are probably some of the most photographed trees in the world.
These dead dead camel thorn trees are in the so-called 'Deadvlei' which is a clay pan in the Sossusvlei desert in Namibia. Photo's of these trees are starring in many travel brochures.
When I visited this spot I found it quite an extraterrestrial view.
We couldn't stay there too long because the temperatures started to rise quickly. I did manage to take a few cool shots, including the one below.

Moreton Bay Fig

The following tree is also a quite interesting one. It's a tree that I spotted on the boulevard of Alicante. It's known as a Moreton Bay Fig. I was impressed by the massive trunk and aerial roots.
They are originally from Australia, but planted all around the Mediterranean sea because they look nice and give a lot of shade. Very interesting looking trees.

The power of nature

The following photo shows the power of nature. I took this photo during our last summer holiday when we were going for a walk. The tree is slowly swallowing the traffic sign. Slowly but steady nature is taking over. Amazing to see the power of nature.

Strange trees

Sometimes I come across some really weird shaped trees during my walks. This one is in an urban area. These trees are grafted. This means that they used a technique to join two parts of trees together so they grow as one. This tree does have a slight problem I think because it has grown multiple bumps. It's probably caused by a bacterial infection or something.

Using trees

You can also use trees in your photos to create more depth. Sometimes when you photograph a scenery it can be quite flat. By adding an object in your photo in the foreground, you can create more depth in your image. I have tried this technique during a sunset in the image below.

Finally I want to end up with a monochrome photograph of a tree. It was quite misty on the day I took this photo and the tree reflected so nicely in the water. It gives the shot quite a mistic vibe I think.

Amazing shots, that first one is so epic and it makes me think of some sort of wastelands. Awesome my friend, I would love to shoot a scene like that one day.

I find your selection of trees very interesting, especially the metal hungry one and the misty one.

Greetings!
