Valentine's Day _ More Than Romance.

February 14 came and in a few hours it will be gone for the year, so today all round the world is a day to celebrate love. People share all kinds of stories,pictures, etc on their status, Instagram stories , Facebook reels , tiktok, etc.

Okay don't get confused, this post isn't basically about anything special, it's just a post I have said to myself that I was going to make to wish everyone one a “Happy Valentine's Day”. So there you go everyone.

Now to what I had in mind, it's about the younger adults and their views on this special day, so I'm sure they might think it's a day to do all sorts of sexual things that they have been wanting to do, but believe you me, today isn't a day for that, I'm not sure if these younger adults do know the real story behind valentine's day.

Okay, so let's do a quick recap about valentine's day, so it is said that valentine's day is all about a Christian priest named Saint valentine, So the emperor had banned single men from getting married because they made fine soldiers, but the priest valentine was against it, and so he went ahead to marry couples secretly and when he was caught, he was arrested and executed on February 14th. I heard there are are other versions to this story , but for me this is what I know.

Okay so back to young adults, valentine's day is a day to celebrate love yes, but not the kind of love that is being protrayed on social media, the few days leading to today , I have laughed and laughed, and si almost forgot I was going to do this post, until I saw WhatsApp status if two fight fighting and tearing each others clothes, now I don't know the country they are from.
The caption of that video was that they boy had the same boyfriend, funny how that seems because the girls in question are very small teenage girls and I begin to wonder how they might have gotten to this level if fighting. .

This is not what love is , love is not competition, it is not suffering, it is not dragging someone because of attention, love should be peaceful, kind, respectful, and something that makes you grow, not something that reduces your value.

Valentine’s day can be about showing love to your parents, siblings, friends, children, even yourself, see not everything must be boyfriend and girlfriend, sometimes buying yourself something nice, calling someone you care about, or just spreading kindness is enough.

I pray and hope that the real purpose for valentine's day truly gets revealed to alot of these young adults before it gets too late, in a way, I feel that there should be some sort of educational put out there to allow them learn a few things, because social media has really changed the meaning of many things.
