Before finally graduating, in my college, we go through 3 stages of defense which is the Post data, Exhibition and Final Defense. The post-data defense is within the lecturers and technicians of the department in which you would be questioned about your project on how you went through to it, your implementation and results. It also involved checking through the workability of the project. I wrote about my post-data defense in the previous post, you can check it out here.
Today was Project Exhibition Day, and this time is about explaining what your project is about to other students of the department in lower levels and invited guests of the department. Then the guests and students would ask few questions about the project for us to answer. This activity would be marked and recorded based on how you answered the questions and the workability of your project.
Here are the canopies that was laid down for projects to be displayed. There were about 12 projects that was displayed today and about 400 students that were present in the exhibition. For the invited guests, they were about 5 to 6 people that came and questioned each one of us about our project.
If you look closely to the picture, you will have my drone project in front of me. The person who took this picture apparently did not take a clearer picture of where I placed the drone.
At first when the exhibition started, I had no way on how it would go because I am not really used to speaking publicly but I had to gather my morale and remind myself that there is nothing to be shy or nervous about. I was able to speak on what I did on the project, answer a few questions on it and handed some questions also to my project partners if they were not in the areas I worked on in the drone.
I worked on the hardware aspect, while colleagues worked on the software aspect of the project which involved the building of the AI and integrating it with the drone.
Here are some other project displayed today:
The project above is an Automatic Fire Fighting Robot, this vehicle moves autonomously at the detection of fire and then spray water to the location that fire is being detected.
This project is a solar powered grass cutter. It has a blade under that can be used to cut grass and it is remotely controlled from the phone. As you can see from the picture, it is powered by the sun.
This project is a Traffic system, it detects traffic using AI and then give traffic signals to clear the path and reduce traffic digestion.
This project above is a 3D printer that was built by one of my coursemates. This can print anything you have designed and set on the computer.
This is an automatic herbicide sprayer which is remotely controlled on the phone. The movement and the dispense of herbicide can be done remotely.
lastly, this project is an automatic waste picker, I can't remember exactly what the guy called it but it automatically picks bottle waste. I do not fully know the functionality yet myself.
There are about 6 more projects that was displayed today that I didn't take pictures of. Two of the projects is purely software based and the remaining 4 are hardware or a combination of both hardware and software project like mine.
