So, I realised I hadn't updated anyone on my progress since almost when I got this damn thing, and I promised I would - so here goes, one big epic update on how I've been doing.
First of all I'd like to say I was side swiped by the summer holidays. I wanted to do get videos done, but my duties at home had other ideas, especially with my kid off school. And he's not a regular kid, he needs more attention than most do.
But that aside I have been cracking on with it when I've had time. I haven't uploaded a video in a day because I'm a bit sick at the moment. My kid came home with a bug and passed it round the family like an Indian peace-pipe. Nevertheless, I'm okay to write! So I'll write about my progress.
So it's been an interesting several months. The idea with YouTube is that if you make good videos then it doesn't matter if you make one per day, or one per week, if they are good, then they'll get views. For instance I made a video almost 10 years ago on my personal channel and it gets almost 100 views daily to that one since I made it.
So I've been hitting crypto in a way that's evergreen, or at least trying to. What is relevant now, will still be relevant in 10 years time. The downfall of that is that crypto is an ever expanding niche and relevance fades to black pretty quickly even after a few months.
I may have came to the conclusion that I'm probably going to just keep up with trends and stay relevant instead of trying to hit the evergreen niche, because I'm finding I can only talk about safety and the psychological aspect behind social engineering and parting you from crypto -- which I'll admit, even for me is mostly mind numbingly boring.
Tomorrow I'll be doing something different, taking the channel in a different direction, stepping away from being beige and taking a few risks with my work. After all, most who are successful on YouTube have stood up there and risked to say what everyone else thinks, but don't say. So we'll see with that. I'll have to think about it.
I've also been teaching myself to speak and project better. I've been looking up ways to act on camera and speak and project better. This piece of advice here, which sent me off down a massive rabbithole was this small tiktok by Jimmy Carr

Speak at 92 Beats Per Minute, which was interesting, and even had me listening to a playlist at 92 Beats Per Minute before I went on to record my video:
It was interesting, it increased my audience retention by almost 20% and had almost 60% staying until the end than the usual 40%, and the weird thing was, it's not a hugely interesting video - so, although it seems insane I'll be following on from that with my next videos.
Also realising that music is probably not needed unless it adds to what I've done.
We're doing quite well on the views and subscribers, and the daily views are growing, even when I don't publish something. I'm slowly realising I don't need to publish every day, as long as it's once a month. But the proposal was 3 times per week, so I'll stick to that.
If you look above, you'll see the spike in views. That was from a simple short I made. I'll be getting on with a lot more of those too, but I'd like to find my way first with the long term content first before I go making loads of shorts. I'll test them for now. See what works, versus what doesn't work.
So far I've made quite a bit of headway in content creation. I've done a HUGE amount of work on content, delivery, and sound design -- like I spent most of my free time during the summer holidays researching how to deliver a well designed video, but it feels like my videos are lacking, they aren't getting the views they deserved, and I realised -- just a few days ago mind you that I'm lacking in one key area:
Interest.
Most people aren't really interested in what I'm talking about. It doesn't generate the clicks or the views. If I look at my favourite YouTuber shoe0nhead her videos aren't fancy at all, and her delivery could be way better, but I enjoy every one of them -- and the key difference is that her content is fucking interesting. Like I enjoy what she talks about, and how she delivers it.
So I've been spending the last few days looking into that. How could I make BRO and ultimately Hive bloody interesting but by leading the audience into it - because there's no way they are coming in via something titled "Hive is great" because no-one knows what Hive is. There's no way they are clicking on some random dude with something they've never heard of.
But, it will be fun trying. And I'll get there. I'm learning. My most recent videos are pulling in more views than I have subscribers, which is good!
I'll get there.
Good stuff always learning!
Thanks man, yeah! I'll get there.
Shorts always help, mostly because YouTube finds a way to add them after every 5 long form video.
Most people who scroll on YouTube without a purpose are looking for shorts soo...
I haven't heard of the 92 beats per minute trick though 😂
