Finished. I give this a 3.5/5. I enjoyed the character building between Frances, Rose, and Emily and I wasn't expecting Rose to be Emily's killer, so that twist was nice for me. But I never felt a strong connection for Annie, although I was rooting for a relationship between her and Detective Crane. There were times, especially between Annie and Jenny, that there was some joking back and forth between the characters which felt a little cute but also strangely placed like Perrin was trying to force us to bond with these under developed characters. The overall mystery was fine. I listened to the audiobook while getting work done around the house. I paused a few times to think through the info and see if I could figure out the mystery but didn't put too much effort in so I was frequently surprised by the plot, which was nice, but I'm not sure it would have been the same if I had put in more effort. The overall story of Frances, Rose, and Emily was quite sad and I did feel myself getting a little emotional at the end during the funeral so I do appreciate the effort put into building out those characters. Overall, it was a nice background listen while doing work but not something I'd plan to reread or highly recommend.
