I would say that the roles we play in society, our careers, and our way of life affect and change our identity at some point in our lives
Interesting. That would mean that our identity is not fixed, and that it adapts depending on the environment we are in.

That's the point I'm trying to make there. Our identities aren't fixed because we as humans aren't fixed. Hence, we continue to shift and adapt to new things that may change our identity in the course of carrying out our daily endeavours.
