One thing that people tend to forget is that the internet is an ever moving target. While most people will never hear from someone who is on the downline of their niche, others will. These people are usually in the "make money while you're watching TV" type of mindset. They are going to do what it takes to make a sale because it's all they know. If you are in the mindset of constantly trying to upsell people, or trying to convince them to join your downline, then you are going to fail.

There is a way that you can leverage this fact, and that is by showing people what they want. You do this by providing them with solutions to their problems. Offer them training and resources that will help them succeed in whatever it is they are wanting to accomplish. By offering them tangible results that they can see and feel, you give them the hope and confidence that they need in order to do what is necessary in order to make progress.

Now, it is important for you to understand that this doesn't mean that you should try to talk them into anything. It simply means that by providing them with a solution to their problem, you become successful outperform the other guy. The other guy has already done what it takes to make sales, and he has done it in a way that only a salesman would do. That is because selling is not about convincing people to do what you want them to do. It is about showing them that it is in their best interest to do what you ask.

Here's the secret that I use every day. Instead of trying to persuade my downline to join my downline, I will actually encourage them to do just that. "Go out and get a new job. Find a new contact. Make some money doing something you love." That is exactly what you have to say if you want your downline to be successful.

However, if you're like most marketers, you're probably thinking "what if I don't get them to do anything? What if they don't really feel like it?" No worries. Just tell them that once they're out of the blue, there will be a time when they'll feel compelled to join your downline.

You can also show them how to create their own residual income streams by giving them books or ebooks on the topic. Once someone becomes a success at that, then they're encouraged to share what they've learned with others. You can literally be creating your own streams of income with this technique.
