RE: Making a Dutch pea soup, winter tradition.

Gorgeous pea soup!

Love cooking pea soup with different herbs and spices. Dried mint makes it Turkish, ground coriander seeds, garlic, and chili make it Georgian, dill and black pepper make it Russian, cumin, turmeric, and cardamom make it Indian. I don't know what capers make it but it was delicious. :)

Ooh I didn't know that, it's one of those dishes you can put almost everything in, just like some Chili dishes 😀

Yup, and like lentils and kidney beans - great for experiments. Miss beans in Southeast Asia currently, after 2 years being here, bought preserved kidney beans and some spice mix (garlic, chili, galangal, lemongrass), leek, tomatoes, and mixed all that (I am at a hostel without a common kitchen so no access to a stove). As a result, I found another lovely flavor, beans with the flavor of lemongrass, "Thai style" :D Although in SEA, they only use beans for desserts.
