Real Life called today - But I really am ME!?

So, this morning wasn't about coding or working on Hive tools. Instead, I had an appointment I definitely didn't make for fun: heading down to the IRS office.

I thought when I went through the process mentioned here: Well That's News To Me that it was done and settled.

Turns out, I needed to go prove I'm actually me, in person. It seems someone might have been trying to file taxes or pull some other shenanigans with my info, which flagged things on the IRS side. It's one of those things you read about, but definitely not my idea of a good time when it actually involves your identity.

So there I was, navigating the standard-issue government waiting room. You know the type. They hand you this slip of paper with a number on it – basically your key to get through the 'identity verification' process for the day.

Waiting in places like that isn't exactly thrilling. You're just sitting there, documents ready, watching the little numbers change on a screen, hoping the actual process isn't too much of a hassle once your turn comes up. You sort of just want to get it over with.

Thankfully, once they called my number, showing my ID and confirming the necessary details with the agent was pretty straightforward. No major hurdles once I got past the waiting part.

Still, the whole detour is a solid reminder about keeping an eye on your personal info and the weird things that can happen. Definitely not how I planned to spend part of my day, but I guess it's just one of those necessary steps you have to take when this kind of issue pops up.

Anyway, hoping that's sorted now and I don't have to deal with that particular process again anytime soon. Back to things I actually enjoy building.
