Breakfast thread

Lately I have been enjoying Chili for breakfast. I prefer 'all beef' style chili, but here in Canada we have had a tough decade and all the good things have started to go away. Can't stay open late anymore, too much shoplifting. Can't buy what we want at the store, there are shortages- accidental, and imposed. They're even taking my favourite coffee- Folgers- off the shelves because unions 'failed to negotiate better prices'. Ridiculous! Let me pay what it costs then.

So lately I have been just enjoying whatever small things our Federal Liberal overlords still allow before they enforce net-zero. I cook 2 eggs with a bit of butter, and scramble. Then in a separate pot I cook the can of chili and when both are ready I combine them in a bowl. I also bought some Bacon-style Turkey slices for the next week's breakfast. I am out of Chili cans but I still have eggs.

I also made coffee, enjoying the last of the Folgers while I still have it. There's not much hope left here, for a future. Instead, we live in fear of the next self-imposed crisis created and flames fanned by our political elite who believe they know best for us. I had dreams last night- a nightmare really, about regulatory enforcement, as society has become so pedantic and focused on the rules that I can't even have a night's rest. What has happened to the world? And yet on the other hand, there are other rule breakers who aren't even concerned at all with trying to be a functional person.

I pulled up to Shoppers Drug Mart in mid-day this week and some guy burst out the exit doors and ran past my car holding something in one arm, and carrying a full basket in the other, of stolen items and possibly jumped in a truck, or ran through the parking lot. It happened so fast, I didn't really have time to help, and both employees who were trying to stop him were unable to do anything about it. Even if I wanted to chase him down, I have no right to interfere with his crime since I am just another person. But I tried to get a picture but poof he was already gone. Employees looking shocked.

It makes me think about all the shoplifting in America. 'Unchecked lawlessness and impunity consistently undermine social stability, economic development, and trust in institutions, contributing to societal decline.'* Who will stand up for what is right when society becomes corrupt and everyone looks the other way? When most people seem to treat the rules like they don't matter, treating the maximum speed as the minimum, or committing petty crimes? He ripped off a lot of merchandise.

Where is the hope for a better future? I wish I was as optimistic as I used to be. The more rules there are, the more strict people have to be with themselves and others. But without rules, those who take advantage of others can get away with what they are able to strong arm away. Which is better? Which worse? How can we have a cohesive, safe society without at least some guidelines? How long will it be until a society of philosophers emerges, now that the world is becoming enlightened?

I just woke up, there's no reason to start my day stressing about things I can't change. All I can do is try to make sure all my 'papers' are in order, and whenever I go out carry them with me.

I am stressing so much about paperwork it's a serious source of anxiety for me. Today I will count every dollar on my new receipts and then try to add up numbers for the year so far. I'll do a Q2 summary at least to get my head wrapped around what i've spent all my money on so far in 2025.

My breakfast is going to get cold, it's time to eat. You're not feeling your best when you are hungry, and maybe after I eat I will start thinking more clearly again. Bad dreams are always an annoying way to start the day. Everything will work out, I am sure. What are you dealing with this year?
