I think people who choose to see the good in people no matter what, usually end up being victims of manipulation.
It's unfortunate what happened with your friend.
I like your new approach of seeing both the good and the bad as part of a person's whole

You're right. I did end up being a victim of their poor character and many manipulations, but I remain happy to have walked out of the friendship.
