Terracore - Fighting For Scraps

After reading a couple of Terracore posts on Hive I just couldn't resist the temptation, put on my spacesuit, and paid the 20 Hive for the license.

Terracore is set in a post-apocalyptic world where players are fighting for this one valuable resource.

In so many other idle blockchain games you woke up and claim resources accumulated there overnight. Then do some missions and claim again. In theory, this can also be true with Terracore. However, other players might have "visited" you and looted some of that precious $SCRAP.

$SCRAPS

The native token of the game. $SCRAPS you earn are liquid and can be traded immediately on Hive-Engine. There was a disappearing thought of getting the initial investment back by selling SCRAPS but at this point, I'm using all I can get to improve my stats - defense, damage, and to increase my mining rate and stash size.

STATISTICS

DAMAGE - This is used when attacking other players and trying to steal their hard-earned SCRAPS. How much of it you'll get depends on the strength of their defense and how strong your attack power(damage) is. Base damage is 10 and can be upgraded to 20 using 1 SCRAPS token. The amount to pay for future upgrades goes up after each upgrade.

You can also increase your chances of making a critical hit by contributing SCRAP to the exploration of new planets. By doing so you'll get $FAVOR in for return.

DEFENSE - Obviously used to protect your SCRAPS from the vicious attacks of other hivians. Just like with damage, the same goes for defense and it gets more expensive to do upgrades after each one.

STASH SIZE - You can increase your stash size by staking SCRAPS meaning the maximum amount of SCRAPS you can mine is higher. There is also sort of a bonus aspect to staking since it adds to your toughness increasing your ability to dodge the opponent's attacks completely.

ENGINEERING - Upgrading engineering allows you to mine SCRAPS faster. Every upgraded level increases your mining rate by 10%.

MY STRATEGY

Terracore is pretty easy to get in and get the hang of the idea. Before you know it, you're already earning SCRAPS and after claiming they are visible and tradable on Hive-engine.

So, claim tokens once in a while and invest them in increasing the stats? Easier said than done. After a well-slept first night, I was ready to collect my mining earnings but found out that most of them were looted by other players. After a couple of upgrades, I decided it was payback time.

I try to kinda combine my claiming and attacking. If I notice that there's a nice amount of SCRAPS in the stash and I have attacks left I use them immediately one after another. Then claim my mining and looting rewards all at once before anyone notices how big my stash has grown.

This has worked pretty well so far and instead of investing in defense I think I'll upgrade my damage points - it's like they said, the offense is the best defense.

We are literally fighting for scraps.

Conclusion

Terracore is pretty easy to get in and get the hang of the idea. Before you know it you're already earning SCRAPS and after claiming they are visible on Hive-engine.

The game is in its early stages and there aren't that many things to do yet but the core idea of stealing from other players and thinking of a working strategy is surprisingly addictive. At the time of writing this, @terracore published this post about the upcoming update including NFTs - couldn't be more excited!

I'm also actually really liking the twist of stealing from other players. Hopefully, in future developments, it will mature into forming alliances or clans working together. All in all, it's a great start for a new game and a welcomed addition to the growing number of Hive blockchain games.
