THE AI DILEMMA:TOOL OR THREAT?

(edited)

Hello my wonderful #indianunited, how are you doing? The journey here has been exciting. I welcome you to the week's contest write-up and presentation.

AI is a dilemma. All over the world, the young and old are buzzing with AI. It is the new sensation for companies and individuals. The creativity is second to none, whether it is for personal use and productivity, design and creativity, business and office, recruitment and human resources, tech and development or health and wellness, AI is an all-around tool loved by anyone creative and dynamic. It can work magic for anyone who dares to be open to its amazing wonders.
AI provides options that companies are continuously adopting to replace the human interface at work.

The pros of AI include, but are not limited to:

Creativity: AI imbues programmers, coders, and writers with a different perspective. The artist sees it as an amazing platform to explore. It simplifies the work of professional writers, including journalists and lecturers. They utilise platforms like Grammarly, ChatGPT, Notion AI, Otter.ai and Replika to edit and produce amazing write-ups and handouts.

Increase productivity: because of its ability to perform large tasks efficiently, many companies have adopted AI. AI can analyse massive data with over 95% accuracy. This is prevalent in the field of medicine, data analytics and automation. AI is a tool trusted by doctors and most companies to increase productivity.

Ease of use: Irrespective of your field or endeavour, AI offers support to everyone. Those with disabilities utilise tools like voice recognition on phones and laptops to navigate their way. Again, language barriers are prevented with the assistance of language translations, such as Google translators. Furthermore, companies utilise AI tools including Youper, Google Fit and bots. These tools provide customer service support, including health and wellness assistance.
Hi-tech development assistance: the financial and corporate organisations adopt bots to attend to their numerous needs with 24/7 online support. Technical bots, including GitHub Copilots, were introduced to replace humans and offer speedy responses.

Design and creativity: content creators employ various AI tools for content creation, including Canva, Photorooms, and Adobe Firefly. They adopt these tools to stay relevant on the social media platforms, which include TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and YouTube.

Business and Office: companies use apps such as Jasper and Firefiles.ai for marketing activities, product descriptions and meeting assistants. Google team and team viewers are also office tools that help reduce physical presence and encourage remote work for work-life balance.

Recruitment and Human Resources: The activities of human resources professionals have been simplified by AI tools like HireVue and Pymetrics. These tools provide support for online interview scheduling, assessment and job role matchmaking.

On the other hand, the innovation of AI was a bane and anguish moment for some employees who were replaced by AI tools.

The Cons of AI tools

Displacement of employees; The Robotics used in factories, hospitals, and warehouses replaced loaders, while the apps replaced customer service agents in corporate organisations, causing mass displacement of employees. Companies like Walmart, Amazon, and IBM adopted the use of AI-powered automation and inventory apps. This led to a mass reduction of their staff strength.

Deception: AI tools can sometimes generate convincing but false feedback if not properly used. No wonder some of its tools, such as ChatGPT, will always advise users to cross-check data provided through the platform.

Addiction: people are over-relying on AI tools, resulting in plagiarism and shabby work. It has also led to laziness and a lack of raw and primary data.

Confidentiality: companies and individuals that use AI without control may be entangled in a breach of confidentiality laws through carelessness or negligence, to the extant laws that are meant to guide privacy rights.

I utilise AI, but I am conscious of the above cons, so I control the usage to avoid overdependence.
However, irrespective of the fact that AI sometimes generates inaccurate information, it has assisted me in recruitment. It made tasks like generating job descriptions, writing official emails, reports and proposals seamless.

In conclusion, AI is a useful tool when used with caution and control; the result will be creativity and enhanced work, with all ethical and privacy laws correctly observed. However, it can cause trouble, up to litigation, if not used wisely.

Friends, I would love to read and share from your perspective.

Yeah, it's a useful tool when used with caution, but aside from that, it might a threat to the human if being over depended on. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you for the contribution.

You are correct. If you see how over independent some individuals are on AI , it is just bad.

In the course of my work, I have encountered some candidates who want to use AI generated samples for their coveeletter. These candidates would wnd up copying and pasting AI generated templates without editing πŸ€”

The overindulgence is just bad πŸ‘Ž
