A BIG FAT LIE
I read mass communication in school and interned in a radio station, and I have always had this mind that when I graduate, I'll work in a big firm that pays big money. One of my lecturers once said journalists and broadcasters are making it big in town, and I believed him. All I thought about for a very long time was how I was going to graduate from school, carry my certificate and then go work in one big firm like that, where I'll be receiving a very fat salary that I can use to get myself a better phone after two months and then I'll rent a good apartment for myself and with time build my own house.
My imagination did me dirty because none of the scenarios mentioned above ever happened. None. I finally graduated, and I went out to look for a job at the renowned radio stations I know, and guess what? The first one rejected me, saying, "We don't need interns." In my mind, I was like I'm not an intern. I Left there and went to another radio station, where they didn't even ask me for my results, they didn't ask me to audition or anything they just asked me if I have served and gotten my certificate and obviously "NO" was the answer and they said there's nothing they can do about it and I decided to drop my pride and choose to be an intern for the main time.

That was when my eye was opened to a lot of things. I got to find out that the lifestyle that they are living (because I thought they've made it in life). Anybody you see living a top-notch life there has two or more side hustles, not just any side hustles, but the ones that pay well. The shocking part is that their salary is ......
So the stories we all heard and what we had in mind were all lies. If I get the opportunity to work in a radio station with a fat salary, I'll grab it, but for the main time, I'm loving the job I'm doing currently. Even though not comfortable (because it's not good to be comfortable) but I'm ok to a great extent.

Universities and the Staff there in have a lot to answer for. Looking back on my time at University I now see it for what it is, big business, nothing else.
Endless hoards of young adults wandering around shot up on hopium, mostly sold to them from University lecturers.
Dillusions of grandeur, promises of Graduate jobs high paid and plentiful.
Looking back 20yrs on, those that did the best out of my Graduation class weren't those that were the best academically but actually those that were the most streetwise out of the bunch! :)
