December 28th, pre-New Year's Eve 2025, a Saturday that started with that typical bustling market vibe in the city center: crowded streets, people everywhere, and an almost suffocating heat. Still, the energy was good, and when the fresh breeze from the east showed up in the late afternoon, you could feel the day was about to shift. Without much planning, I ended up at Praça XV, that place that, for skaters, carries a unique vibe, almost magical, as if it’s always blessed.

28 de dezembro, pré-Réveillon 2025, um sábado que começou com aquele clima típico de feira no centro da cidade: ruas lotadas, gente pra todo lado e um calor quase sufocante. Mesmo assim, a energia era boa, e quando o vento fresco vindo do leste apareceu no fim da tarde, deu pra sentir que o dia ia se transformar. Sem muito planejamento, acabei indo parar na Praça XV, aquele lugar que, pra quem é do skate, carrega uma vibe única, quase mágica, como se fosse sempre abençoado.

When I arrived, the chaos was already in full swing. It was that kind of organized chaos that only Praça XV can deliver: skaters of all levels and styles occupying every corner of the plaza, while curious onlookers watched from a distance, torn between fascination and distraction.

Quando cheguei, o caos já tinha se instalado. Era o tipo de confusão organizada que só a XV sabe proporcionar: skatistas de todos os níveis e estilos ocupando cada canto da praça, enquanto os curiosos assistiam de longe, divididos entre o fascínio e a distração.

Fernando, known as the plaza’s 'manager,' was there with his loyal sidekick, always keeping an eye on everything. They looked after the spot, complained about the usual stuff, but in the end, everything worked as it should. And the essence of skateboarding, which is freedom and self-expression, took over once again.

O Fernando, conhecido como o síndico da Plaza, estava por lá com seu fiel parceiro, sempre atentos a tudo. Eles cuidavam do espaço, reclamavam das coisas de sempre, mas, no fim, tudo funcionava como devia. E a essência do skate, que é liberdade e expressão, tomou conta mais uma vez.

It was one of those days that made me stop, reflect, and feel grateful. Thank you, 2024, for all the sessions, the landed tricks, the falls that taught me lessons, and the connections that got stronger. Now it’s time to take on 2025 with the same passion, hoping for much more to come. SÓ VAMU!!!
