Lightning Strikes Twice: Upbit Triggers a 45-Million Hive Mega-Pump
Hey everyone,
If you thought the market action earlier this month was intense, the last 24 hours just blew it out of the water. Hive ignited once again, but this time the scale of liquidity moving through the network was staggering. Running my hive-nectar snooper script over the latest on-chain data from snoop.csv reveals that the Korean market didn't just recreate the previous pump—they amplified it.
The 45,000,000 HIVE Smoking Gun
Earlier in May, we caught Upbit refilling their hot wallets with a hefty 10 million HIVE from cold storage. This time, they shattered that benchmark. On May 31st at precisely 07:15 UTC, a massive 45,000,000 HIVE transfer moved from cold.dunamu (Upbit’s cold storage) into upbitshotwallet1.
This is a liquidity deployment 4.5 times larger than the previous event. A cold wallet unlock of this magnitude points to an absolute supply shock on the exchange, likely driven by a massive wave of localized buying pressure or localized withdrawal demands that threatened to drain their hot wallets completely.
The Automated Arbitrage Pipeline
Once those 45 million coins hit the hot wallets, the global arbitrage network immediately went into overdrive to smooth out the resulting "Kimchi Premium."
The data shows a highly efficient, automated pipeline operating between Upbit and Binance via the bdhivesteem bridge account. Both binance-hot2 and bdhivesteem recorded matching transaction spikes of roughly 19.36 million HIVE.
Looking closely at the transaction logs, the pattern becomes obvious: a continuous, rapid-fire sequence of exact 200,000 HIVE blocks were pushed from Upbit's hot wallets through the bridge and straight into Binance. Arbitrage bots were systematically stripping liquidity from the premium in South Korea and flattening it out across global books.
By the Numbers
The velocity of this window was far more concentrated than the previous run:
- The Ignition: Network activity was flatline quiet all through May 30th, sparking to life exactly at 00:00 UTC on May 31st with an immediate 15-million HIVE hourly surge.
- The Apex: Volume reached its absolute peak during the 07:00 UTC hour, perfectly synchronized with the 45-million cold storage unlock.
- The Velocity: Millions of coins were shuffled, balanced, and distributed across global hot wallets in less than a 12-hour window.

This event proves why real-time on-chain monitoring is essential. When an exchange moves nearly 50 million tokens out of cold storage, the resulting ripples dictate the entire market's short-term structure. If you didn't know I've been getting downvoted for a long time on Hive
They have been trying to bully me with downvotes and words but it doesn't affect me I've been online for over 25 years
So I've dealt with people like this before it's nothing new

thanks for doing some investigation! I have myself digged into the Upbit "cartel" as well. For instance, I would really like to know why they always do this at 00:00 UTC. Also, the pumps always end up dumping (below the initial price entry point). Is this a big scheme from whales trying to just make money off of this? Is there a bigger development behind the scenes? Unfortunately, I don't think this signals genuine interest in Hive. However, previous macro trend changes have always started with these kind of volume candles.
